3.8 stars for me.
I think this is the third BDSM book I've read in my life, and while I found it interesting to read and learn more about the genre, I don't think it is my usual cup of tea.
I need build up of emotions, longing and pining, which of course are not the main purpose here.
I wanted to know all the reasons why behind certain feelings, but they were rapidly brushed away.
It has been although quite eye opening to read and insightful, and I can understand why the readers who love the genre are giving full appraise to the book.
Just, I prefer reading about the pain of the heart than literal corporal pain.
But I am happy that Vivienne has finally found someone like Selene who is capable of loving her the way she wants to be loved.
To each their own.
Some scenes are indeed as hot as pure fire.

I felt the same way, my friend. When the physical pain factor goes up, my enjoyment of the scenes goes down. That said - not everyone feels that way and as you say, to each their own.
