This whole Alchemy series was exciting, intriguing, thought provoking, heartbreaking and heartwarming. The author, Donna Augustine, has an astounding imagination. My favorite books are ones where the female protagonist has a little something extra, in this case, a lot of something extra; magic. Jo has such heart and bravery, but she feels that practically every decision she makes has turned out to be the wrong decision. I think most of us can relate to doing what we feel is right, but things not turning out how we thought they would. I was very excited with how Jo found out she wasn’t quite human. That’s about the time she met a man she couldn’t take her eyes off of. Their relationship was about as rocky as most everyone’s is, so it was easy to relate. There are so many beings that Jo discovers, and I felt as if I were seeing them for the first time too. There are so many heartbreaking moments, but so much strength in all of the characters. This series was a delight to read, and I highly recommend it.
