I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first in the series, but elements of it were engaging. I listened on audio and wasn't a huge fan of the narrator, so that could've been part of my struggle, but I tried to rate the book on the story alone.

For me, the two main characters were hard to like. There were several instances between them when I just had to groan and say, "Come on, be grown ups." LOL

Aside from the few nit-picky frustrations with the characters, I do appreciate the author tackling the topic of how hard it is on parents to deal with a child's chronic, lifelong illness. The story brings great awareness to a subject I haven't personally dealt with but gave me compassion for those who do.

I plan to continue with this series and read the next book, because I adore nearly everything else I've read by this author.
