** spoiler alert ** I hate to say this but I’m disappointed in this. It really felt like something was missing. I longed for more of the Russian history & the story of the mother. Also I’m sorry but she shouldn’t have had more children if she couldn’t love them. The plot twist at the end of her older daughter & first husband surviving the war was just cruel. I know that probably happened for so many people during WWII but this is a fiction book so it just made me mad.
