In this novel, we follow the life of Raghunathan for three days and get to witness to the events that unfold during this period.
Raghunathan gets invited to a party, where instead of drinks, he orders coffee. In the party he meets a drunk Rajappa, who philosophizes with him a lot, including a reference to "Aagaya Thamarai" - an object that appears to be true, but is not. Raghunathan gets terminated from his job, and the next day when he meets Rajappa at his office, he does not recognize Raghunathan.
In this journey, he also meets the rickshaw driver Munusamy, his friend Malathi, and also a neighbor who supposedly cares about him.
Nothing dramatic happens - a rumination on mid-life crisis told in an episodic faction
