did not like it

EDIT : AS A SA VICTIM MYSELF, CAN Y'ALL PLS GET OFF MY ASS?

how beautiful to see a fic where draco r@pes hermione is getting trad published meanwhile everyday actually talented bipoc and qpoc authors are struggling to get even a deal
loveeeee to see r@pe fantasy books dominating the romance space!!!

it's been years since i read manacled but making romantic versions of handmaid's tale is so unbelievable; years from now we'll look at this trend of romanticizing r@pe in the name of dark romance, how we look back at coho books now. LOVEEEE how the author gave a magical reason for hermione (a member from an oppressed community) getting r@ped by someone who is from the oppressor community
a woman forgiving her r@pist and being in a romantic relationship with him!!! peak romance!!!!!

Isha ツ ???????? This is not a love story oh my god
You guys lack reading comprehension

Natasa did you seriously read Manacled/Alchemised and thought it romanticises rape? You either haven't read it, or you know it doesn't and you are just trying to find a way to pick on SenLinYu because of JKR. Yes, JKR is the devil, but she has nothing to do with this book, and rating a book you haven't read (Alchemised) is a bit low.
You can dislike the content or the themes, that’s fair, but you can’t dismiss it with a false narrative and pretend that’s ethical critique.

Mary Girl. Try to have a little bit of sense. Don’t completely show your ignorance for the world to see

Shakila Neazi You haven't actually read Manacled, have you? Because judging by your review, there is no way we read the same Manacled. Also; Not a love story. Keep up please.

ali griffin what a bizarre take

Jill Dowd Manacled and Alchamised are two different stories and neither are a romantsy

message 7: by SciFi_bookworm (new)

SciFi_bookworm Hi, firstly, to just ensure it is noted, this book hasn’t yet been published so your review is purely based on what you have heard or assumed about the content of this story.

Secondly, the prior piece of fiction you refer to does in no way romanticise SA. It explores the trauma involved in that act throughout the story and it deals with that in a mature and appropriate way.

message 8: by Estefania (new) - added it

Estefania Rodriguez You clearly never read Manacled

message 9: by Spudliloquy (new)

Spudliloquy So you haven't even read this new book and are leaving a trash review? You need a new hobby lol.

message 10: by Jayda (new) - added it

Jayda The author of this book is both BIPOC and LGBTQ.

message 11: by Mary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mary Don’t know if you noticed this but the authors name is SenLinYu. She’s Asian. I may be wrong but I think that makes her BIPOC

🌊🐚 𝐻𝑒𝓇𝑜𝓁𝓈𝓉𝑜𝓃🩵🌴 SenLinYu is not only asexual, but also not a white woman. Perhaps next time we do our due diligence of at least reading part of the book before we make ourselves look like a goober, eh? Enjoy the read, Dramoine Stans 🩵

message 13: by Ingrid (new) - added it

Ingrid read the book fr, get a life, leave bad reviews on bad books, why do you even believe reviewing a book YOU NEVER READ is cool?

message 14: by R🤎 (new)

R🤎 This performative activism is pathetic lol stop bring chronically online and get a job maybe?

message 15: by Kila (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kila Touch grass

Rachel Admire How dare you even write a review on a book that hasn’t even come out yet. Your performative activism is showing

message 17: by Ruba (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ruba The virtue signaling is one thing, bt crying about a book because it wasnt bows and rainbows is another.

1. SenLinYu is BIPOC as well as LGBTQ

2. Just because it didnt fit your criteria for who and FMC should/should've fall in love doesnt make this book shit.

3. Rating it a 1 star for the sole purpose of it not fitting into your idealisms of what war "should look like" is both asinine and childish.

Katie Kelly There's still time to delete this embarrassing review of a book you didn't even read, sis.

message 20: by Petra (new) - added it

Petra Stephanie Isn’t the author literally Asian and queer? Yeah exactly. This review is giving old man yells at sky

Sunny This is so embarrassing for you.

message 22: by Eric (new) - rated it 1 star

Eric Van Lustbader Over 100 opening pages of the most grotesque torture, both physical and mental. Unbearable. Plus, all the over-the-top tropes of fanfic stand out like sore thumbs. The world-building is is quite good, I'll give it that, but that's background. Also, the names are so stupidly, laughably childish they take away from the characters themselves.

message 23: by Q (new) - rated it 4 stars

Q P The author is queer and asian LMFAOOOOOOOOO what are you yapping abt

Melissa Bramley What does the authors sexual preference have to do with their talent as a writer? I’ll wait.

message 25: by Mo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mo Bella Girl, this book is a tragedy. There is nothing romantic about the r@pe.

Meishuu Eric wrote: "Over 100 opening pages of the most grotesque torture, both physical and mental. Unbearable. Plus, all the over-the-top tropes of fanfic stand out like sore thumbs. The world-building is is quite go..."

yes, it's just torture porn

message 27: by Erica (new)

Erica Huerta Well first off the book was never a “dark romance” it’s a Dark Fantasy with a love story subplot.

Second SenLinYu is BIPOC and LGBTQ so that’s embarrassing babe.

And clearly you didn’t actually read Manacled, or it just didn’t fit your view of What a war time dark fantasy should be portrayed. Either way, review bombing a book before it’s even released is gross 🙄

message 28: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Girl please. How did 146 people like this comment? Are you ok?

message 29: by Mars (new) - added it

Mars Tell me you didn’t understand the story without telling me you didn’t understand it. In no way is ANYONE—especially the author—publicizing this book as a romance??? It’s actually wild that you’d even think to describe it as a “r@pe fantasy” bc what? Wild.

Genesis its stated in the book that they were both r@ped, this was an evil that was committed against both characters. i would also like to acknowledge the fact that forcing someone to r@pe someone they love has been something done throughout history in times of slavery. this is literally where the term motherf!cker comes from; during slavery in america, enslavers used to force sons and fathers to r@pe their mothers and daughters to produce the strongest offspring. helena and kaine are both trapped and enslaved by the same villain in this book who forces kaine to r@pe helena so she can have a child with both of their abilities. and this is something they struggle to reconcile going forward in their relationship because it deeply traumatizes both of them, and it is not romanticized whatsoever in this book.

message 31: by hanzhi (new)

hanzhi did you even read this? theres nothing romantic about it?? and nowhere in it was he forgiven?? not only that but the author is literally poc

౨ৎ emily ౨ৎ This is embarrassing for you

message 33: by Alicia (new) - added it

Alicia Allen Ok bc I’m on chapter 16 and wondering wtf is going on. It’s sooooo weird. I hope she doesn’t fall in love with this man that is brutalizing her

Jessie A Morgan The author is Asian and non binary, i believe. Your review isn't even for this book. NO ONE IS ROMANTICIZING GRA PE. The fanfic this book originates from explains how horrific the act is in excruciating detail. Maybe you should work more on your reading comprehension skills instead of leaving silly, ill-informed reviews.

Riley Saying "Draco" raped "Hermione" is a bad faith argument and you clearly don't undertand consent. They were both raped. Not to mention you giving this book 1 star before the book was released. How about you actually read it and come back and give your honest take. Not saying you can't give it 1 star; if you genuinely don't think it's a good book then you genuinely don't think it's good. But don't rate something if you know nothing about it.

message 36: by Vanessa (new) - added it

Vanessa :) Girl have you even read the book yet? Lets review it after we read it next time

Mercedes No rape was romanticized at all. Period. It was in fact very much the opposite.

message 38: by Kira (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kira This isn’t a romance book it’s a DARK FANTASY. I have yet to read a dark fantasy that doesn’t include rape 😐 do I like it? No, but I’m not supposed to and I think the author handles it in a complex way that does not justify the action nor romanticize it (I mean the mmc literally pukes afterwards). Also the author is a POC

message 39: by enola (new)

enola come back when you read Manacled thank youuu

message 40: by Yelena (new)

Yelena Hm.. I'm super confused right now

message 41: by khadeja (new)

khadeja isnt the author queer as well 😭

minnie. (reading slump) wait im really confused. arent you talking about manacled? so why are u rating alchemized instead of manacled?

message 43: by Lori (new)

Lori It's spelled "rape." GR doesn't do this TikTok censorship bullshit. Stop normalizing it.

Stephanie Garcia Wow this is really embarrassing for you reviewing a book you didn’t even read.

M i c h e l l e G. How about if you’re going to review something, you actually read the damn thing first instead of spewing your misguided assumptions all over us

Monica Genesis wrote: "its stated in the book that they were both r@ped, this was an evil that was committed against both characters. i would also like to acknowledge the fact that forcing someone to r@pe someone they lo..."

This is important to know, but most people don't know history. Reading is supposed to challenge your understanding.

Weronika insane take, sad to see so many likes under it, neither her fanfiction work nor her new book romanticize rape, war is dark, so the books about war are gonna be dark as well, it’s an incredibly written dark fantasy, the trigger warnings are all there, you don’t have to read these books and apparently u didn’t bother with Alchemised either, but decided to just judge and criticize it bc what? some other authors have trouble publishing? senlinyu is actually a good writer that gave us incredible work for free this whole time, it’s amazing that she decided to monetize her talent and put this book out for everyone that appreciated and yearned for her work to be published! it’s a shame that you guys can’t see anything beyond your hatred for dramione it seems…

message 48: by Trang (new) - added it

Trang Funny how you didn’t mention that Draco is a victim of rape too

Sarah No one is defending rape in this story girl, you have to keep some space for nuance in your head.

message 50: by Pink (new) - rated it 5 stars

Pink Bianes Me when I let my judgment cloud my thoughts instead of actually reading the book… i’m genuinely embarrassed for u
