Time travel stories usually confuse me, but 11/22/63 was so clear and well-executed. Stephen King wove together history, love, loss, and the butterfly effect with such skill that even the small moments felt meaningful. The only time I felt a little lost was during the Cuban Missile Crisis discussions—definitely a sign I need to brush up on history, not a fault of the book.
The character work is phenomenal. At times it seemed like King was taking his time with every little detail, but by the end, it all paid off. Every thread was worth it. I didn’t want to leave the story. And I’ll never forget the ending. Bittersweet, beautiful, and haunting.
