I keep wavering on this book...graphic novel.
First, background. My daughter likes Manga. I am not a fan and have no interest in reading any. My daughter no longer has any interest in reading my book suggestions. 15 years old. What can you do. So, at the library, I see this book in the new section. I figure it's a good compromise. It's not Manga but it is a graphic novel. I told my daughter I would read it first to make sure it was age appropriate (By our household it is not. Graphic nude drawings.)
This story is about the anxiety of making everyday and life changing decisions; Choosing a shirt or glasses, changing or quitting careers.
At times, this book is amazing, capturing the real anxiety of making decisions and capturing the quirky conversations I might have. I also think about the time to draw all of the images.
At other times, the book is absolutely horrible. The conversations are elementary, and many times end in "Okay". The characters feel free to share details with strangers.
I keep flipping and flopping on this book and how I feel about it. It was a fast and easy read and apparently it has stuck with me to some degree.
