There's almost a few great books in here. Something like 7 or 8 great ideas which all flesh out an interesting world, but don't tell an especially compelling story.
I think if this was a short story which focused on one concept, or a full blown novel which really dug into every facet of this world there might be something great here, but I don't think it's using the novella format to it's strengths.
The author is juggling a closed box mystery, a dystopian apocalypse scenario, an exploration adventure, lots of hard sci-fi worldbuilding and a workers rights story; it's just too many piece and felt unfocused.
