liked it

This cookbook is huge! There's a bunch of great stuff in it and I've liked what I've made from it so far, BUT, there aren't any pictures. Pictures are a must for me in a cookbook, so that's why I couldn't give it more than three stars.

Petra X I agree with you, cookbooks need pictures. I have a bookshop and I find it really difficult to sell non-textbook cookbooks (or church cookbooks) if they don't have pictures. I'm glad I read your review because, although I love Ruth Reichl a lot, I won't order the book for my shop for Christmas.

Jim Leckband I must be a very small minority. Pictures are irrelevant in a cookbook - they are usually just a fantasy bearing no resemblance to what is made. And add a lot of cost to the book.
