Horrifying and riveting, all in one place. I have no regrets for having read this book, although I almost quit when the killing started. (It went on and on and on and on.) Caroline Fraser did not dramatize any of the heinous scenes, just told them flatly and swiftly. Still, random yet targeted violence is the stuff of nightmares. I kept reading because I wanted to know the science she posits was behind the insanity and mayhem perpetrated by the serial killers. That part of the reading was well within my capacity to internalize. I recommend this book to those who can survive the reading of it.
