Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice

When I first heard that Virginia Roberts Giuffre had committed suicide, it occurred to me that she might have been murdered in order to silence her and stop any more damning revelations (on page 295 she states quite strongly that she is not suicidal). On the other hand after reading such a sad and harrowing autobiography that took her 4 years to write, I also realise that taking her own life after writing about everything that had happened to her had been the only way she could have found eternal peace. However, I guess we'll never know what really happened to her.
The author had been sexually abused since childhood, first by her father and then a family friend, with her mother turning a blind eye to it. After her father had found 15-year-old Virginia a menial job at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, she then came into the orbit of Ghislaine Maxwell. G-Max (as she preferred to be called) who trafficked her to Jeffrey Epstein and scores of other wealthy and powerful men.
In the second half of the book we find out how she managed to escape Maxwell and Epstein's clutches when she tried to build a new life for herself in Australia and help other victims of sexual abuse. However, mentally it was more difficult to rid herself of past traumas.
5 stars for this heartbreaking autobiography. Virginia Roberts Giuffre has finally rid herself of despicable men who only saw her as a body to satisfy their perverted sexual cravings. May she rest in peace.
