4.8 stars:
This is a fictional book that I would have part of a curriculum for high school teenagers to peak their interest in Vietnam. This is a very detailed (some would say obnoxiously detailed) book that I particular enjoy. It’s an odd writing style that Jack Carr has leaned into more with each new book.
Dare I say this book somehow romanticizes the Vietnam war? Like I wish I could have been having a drink at the bar at the Continental Palace with the war going on just miles away? I looked up staying at this exact hotel while listening to this book. My next day off I may drive a hour to get Pho?
My only downgrade, I didn’t like the abrupt ending. Am looking forward to a continuation of this story or even a generation back to grandpa Reese in OSS world war 2.
