truthfully, trying to string together a coherent thought after finishing this is a bit challenging. my brain feels as though it’s been scrambled, but undoubtedly in the best way possible.
i went into this novella mostly blind which, really, is the best way to experience this story. tuttle is an incredible writer, that much is clear. despite feeling that the story was a bit slow paced, i was entranced by the characters tuttle crafted and the overall narrative (and mystery) was more than enough to keep me hooked. additionally, though tuttle’s descriptions aren’t waxed poetically, they are vivid and set a distinct tone, which draw you into the mystery completely.
while only 100~ pages in length, it manages to invoke complex questions regarding women’s sexuality, the role gender plays in legacy, and the relationship women share together.
i can not recommend this novella enough. it’s a short, easy read which really sells itself by the end. even if the style is not typically your preference or you’re unsure in the beginning, i strongly encourage you to finish this all the way through, because it’s incredible.
