Michael Dean Edwards | 73 comments Judging by Lynn and my desire for another novel or on occasion a short story, the following authors come to mind. There are lots of time travel here, but not exclusively so.
Tasha Alexander for The Lady Emily series of historical mysteries;
Katheryn Lasky is a new one, but even after one story with the artist Georgia O’Keeffe as the reluctant-amateur detective, becomes an instant favorite;
Julie McElwain, for her Kendra Donovan series about an FBI agent who goes rogue and then falls into a time portal ending up in 1815 Of course her general knowledge of history is both a burden and useful, but her main asset is her twenty-first century knowledge of criminology. She has her self-defense training, but has to deal with restrictions of early 18th-century British society. She had issues in our time, but her struggles to cope in her new present, our past, demands she adapt, like it or not.
Kage Baker’s time travel series, The Company, with a host of cyborgs, enhanced human’s made immortal through advanced technology and released throughout history. they have to move into the future through real time. slow, but effective. It does not go well for The Company that made them. The main character is a Spanish child who matures into a young woman, ever young, named Mendoza.

Those are our most recent ones we come back to.
I should also mention our favorite, The historical time-travel series, The Chronicles of St. Mary’s, by Jody Taylor. This has some creative twists and a muse of history to watch over us mortals.

Thanks for mentioning Just One Damned Thing After Another #1 Chronicles of St. Mary by Jodi Taylor. Our library has a few of the titles in Audio & one as e-book but not Kindle. Did you listen to them on Audio & if so what was your opinion of the narrator. A good narrator makes a book come alive!

Have read the #1 & #2 in the Kendra Donovan series and enjoyed more than expected!

Even though I'm not a fan of Amazon I mostly read on Kindle Paperwhite through Libby and listen to Audio. With advancing age had to give up "real" books and am thankful for modern technology!

Pardon the buttinsky, but I wanted to give my recommendation for the audio narration of Just One Damned Thing After Another and the whole series. I've been double dipping the entire series - listening to the audio and reading the book when my library has a print copy. I got so used to listening to the first few titles that I now feel I'm missing out when not listening. The narrator is fantastic and really captures the wit and sarcasm of the main character.
