Karen’s first review of the year

liked it
This book was on a shelf in a B&B I spent a few days in. I'm not a big fan of modern TV, so to entertain myself in the evening I picked this book up because it looked like something I could read quickly and that might have a decent story. It's okay, and a quick read, but some of the plot elements—more like most of them, really—beggar belief. Other reviewers have already pointed those out, so I won't repeat them. ...more

Karen’s last review of the year

did not like it
The plot is basic, and the writing lacks craft: little to no insight, no sensory detail, no character development. On a sentence level, the writing seems robotic, with the most basic of sentence structure and word choice. I kept reading because I thought there would be a twist or plot complication, but there really isn't one that isn't projected from the start. Not for me. ...more
