Can You See the Clouds Divide ~ EXTEND ver.

Much of ADR3-N's lyrics can be found in the Penultimate Mix so I also strongly recommend you give this a listen once you've finished with this one:

Long, long overdue extended version of Can You See the Clouds Divide (original in sidebar). This was originally intended for last year's (2023's) Sketch Collab, but we ran into a bunch of issues that prevented us from finishing it on time.

When @midgetsausage announced the theme of this year's Sketch Collab as "rhythm game" and mentioned that all music submissions needed to keep to 120 BPM, I felt the time had come to completely revisit this song — not least because the original was 10 BPM faster. Work, gigs, health issues both physical and mental, and a slew of other things prevented us from starting this early, but we scrambled in the month of October to get this done.

All in all I have 70 mixer tracks -- and that's AFTER I condensed my vocal takes from 15 to 3, and ADR3-N condensed hers from 62 to 7.

Massive, massive thank you to all credited, in between scrambling with me to get this done, giving me mixing feedback, and in the case of ADR3-N... well, you can literally hear what went into this. I want to extend that message to whoever might need it, who is struggling mentally right now.

To the rest who didn't get chance to collab, let's work on something together in future!

@AceMantra is on lead synth in the intro and choruses.

@Albe is on a bunch of different synths in the bridge section, as well as rhythm guitar and ukulele sequencing on the chorus sections.

@tapestoppa is on a bunch of different synths throughout the song.

@BBank has a guitar solo at the end stretch.

@ADR3-N is vocals and drum sequencing.

I'm the composer and producer, as well as keys, bass sequencing, and main chorus vocals (mostly the ones from the original).

@MixRPD is mastering.

Special thanks to @MixRPD and nessiethemonster. for offering mixing feedback that proved integral to the final form of this piece.

Artwork for this track is a modified form of the original that I drew many, many years ago:

I have to say it. This song helped me get out of a minor depression I was feeling in December 2024.
Was going through some personal troubles during the holiday season. (Being very short on money was one of my troubles.) But hearing this song, And watching the 2024 sketch collaboration animation, Made me feel hopeful for a better future come next year 2025. Wanting to believe things will get better. And sure enough. I got a new job that helped me feel better about my life.

Back to this music. Hearing the singer talking about clouds. Always makes me think of a star-y night sky appearing between dark clouds that are parting ways. Giving way for an early dawn sun to appear up from the horizon distance. And then getting the wings to fly high.
Everything about this song is fantastic!

ADR3-N responds:

I wanted to hop on and say thank you -- and that's fantastic news. The making of this song itself helped me get through a really dark time in my own life. While recording for this version, I was getting over a nasty breakup. My ex kicked me out of our apartment, where we had been living for a year and a half, after I found out she was cheating on me.

I know, figure that out.

I had just started a new job, and my manager treated me like fresh dog turd every day. This song was a reason to get up in the morning and seize the day anyway.

I'm glad that for the people who need to hear it, it has such a deep, profound and positive impact, the same as it has for me!

Tapestoppa responds:

3 words: Hell yeah brother!
Proud of you for not giving up and for scoring that job. I wish you well for everything in the future.

Troisnyx responds:

Thank you so much 🫂 Solidarity with you re: depression, I have my bouts of it, especially trauma-related, and @ADR3-N's lyrics allude to it (as you'd see written in the Penultimate Version)

The sight of crepuscular rays from when clouds part is simply beautiful, I've seen my fair share of them, and I think that like any meteorological phenomenon known to hit an area, it'll come again. Same with how dark things are now; the everyperson can call out how dark it is, and feel despair, but hope still remains, because we know that this darkness *will not* sustain itself

Great stuff!!!

Tapestoppa responds:

Thank you! :)

SUPER AWESOME!!!

Aweeeeeeeeesome music :DDDD .

woohoo sketch Collab hours!!!
