Key onX Maps Features to Help Prepare for Wildfire Season
The right tools can keep you in the clear during fire season. Here are some key wildfire features that are available across all onX products — onX Hunt, onX Offroad, onX Backcountry, and onX Fish Midwest.

Active Wildfire Layer
This layer displays fire perimeter data from the National Interagency Fire Center, updated every day. It also shows Hot Spots (the bright orange dots on the map), or satellite points of heat, that are updated hourly, indicating how a fire is moving or growing.

GPS Tracking
Build a system of Offline Maps, Waypoints, evacuation routes, and meetup points to keep your loved ones on the same page. Share the folders for quick access and synchronicity.

Weather
View current conditions, weekly forecasts, and hourly forecasts. Take a look at wind directions, precipitation, and other variables that may impact your safety.

Area Shape
Use the Area Shape tool to follow guidelines when creating a defensible space around your home.

Smoke Forecast
Atmospheric Smoke Forecast data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to ensure that you’re breathing clean air on your adventure.

Historic Wildfire Layer
Historic Wildfire shows burns over the last 12 years. Track these for patterns and historical context. (Not currently available in onX Fish Midwest.)
