E1 Calculation for Radio Configurations

The document discusses how to calculate the number of time slots needed for a radio configuration based on the number of transmission units. It explains that each transmission unit divided into 8 channels needs 16 kbps per channel, so a single transmission unit needs 128 kbps. Since one time slot in an E1 frame can carry 64 kbps, each transmission unit requires 2 time slots. It then works through an example of a radio configuration with 12 transmission units divided 4/4/4 between cells, calculating that this requires 12 * 2 = 24 time slots. It notes that transmission planning typically rounds up to the nearest E1, which contains 32 time slots.

E1 Calculation Base on Radio Configuration of Cell

HISTORICAL
We know if a TRU divide into 8 channel that each of channel need 16 kbps So in one TRU need : 8 x 16 kbps = 128 kbps We know 1 TS in E1 = 64 kbps 128 kbps : 64 kbps = 2 , that equal with 2 TS ( Time Slot ) So if we have radio configuration of cell 4/4/4 with total of TRU are 12 TRU, the calculation TS ( Time Slot ) is :

12 x 2 = 24 TS ( Time Slot )
Usually for Transmission Planning Round Up to 1 E1, Because 1 E1 consist of 32 TS ( Time Slot )
