Iron Ore Processing

This document provides information on the physical, chemical, and mineralogical properties of an iron ore, including its bulk density, specific gravity, crushing value, composition, liberation characteristics at different mesh sizes, and results from testing concentration processes. The iron ore has a bulk density of 2.7 tonnes/cubic meter and contains 37-38% total iron. Optimum liberation of iron minerals from quartz occurs around 200 mesh size. Concentration tests achieved iron recoveries of 64-69% and produced final products with 63-64% iron content.

Liberation: Microscopic observation of sieve fractions reveals that optimum liberation of iron
minerals (hematite, gothethite, magnetite) from silica (quartz) is at about -200 mesh size.
