As a class discussion, T asks Ss to recall the story of Cinderella and what the
main morals were.
T reminds Ss to read using appropriate expression, as demonstrated in the
previous lessons. T asks Ss what appropriate expression means, Ss respond
following the punctuation marks. Reading speech in quotation marks. Speaking
clearly. Etc.
T sends the Ss off in their reading pairs to read the story aloud. (Ss already have
designated reading pairs according to their reading level). Ss read a paragraph
each.
Ss are given a cloze passage to complete, taken from a section of the text. The
words that are missing are adjectives. Ss must decide on an appropriate
adjective to fill the blanks.
For differentiation; some Ss may be given a word bank with a selection of
adjectives.
As a class discussion, T asks Ss to identify the characters in Cinderella. After
each character is mentioned T asks Ss for a description of the character. T
encourages Ss to use a variety of adjectives, emphasising the connotations of
good characters vs bad characters.
T instruct Ss to individually complete a Venn diagram of the similarities and
differences between Cinderella and the two step sisters.
Class discussion to follow once all diagrams have been completed.
