Language Basic Assembler SLOC (Level) Average SLOC Per Function Point
This document compares programming languages to basic assembler in terms of lines of code (SLOC) required to implement a function point. It shows that basic assembler requires the fewest SLOC per function point at 320 SLOC, while spreadsheet languages require the most at around 50 SLOC per function point. The majority of procedural and object-oriented languages require between 50-100 SLOC per function point. Database and 4th generation languages typically require 13-40 SLOC per function point.
