Here is a process for managing projects. It’s part of the Princeton Project

Initiate the Project Template…


1. Invite key stakeholders to a project planning session.
2. Produce Project Initiation Plan using input from planning session. Initiation Plan
3. Review plan with sponsor to get his/her approval.
4. Review plan with team, stakeholders, architectural review board. Get Stakeholder
commitment & sign-off to roles & responsibilities and technical Agreements
architecture.

Do Detailed Planning Template…


1. Identify who does what work and when. Detail Plan

Track and Control Template…


1. Track progress to make sure deliverables & critical dates will be met. Detail Plan
2. Take corrective action as necessary to keep project on track.
3. Monitor and control risks. Risk Plan
4. Manage and dispose of issues in a timely manner.
5. Monitor and control change requests.

Communicate & Report Project Status Template…


1. Schedule regular team meetings, sponsor meetings, other Communication
stakeholders meetings to review project status. Plan
2. Send Status Reports to key stakeholders on regular basis (monthly). Status Report
3. Use other means to communicate, such as Blackboard, e-mail, etc.

Review the Project Template…


1. Review the project at critical points with the Project Office.

Complete the Project Template…


1. Hand over delivered system, service, product to support group.
2. Review project with key stakeholders to identify lessons learned. End of Project
Review Report
3. Celebrate and communicate accomplishments.
