1. Broad Area of Work

BYPL and BRPL are leading Power distribution companies which is part of Reliance
infrastructure Ltd. BRPL and BYPL distributing power to about 1.7 and 2.5million consumers in
Delhi respectively with an annual increase of about 4% – 6%. Customer relationship is an
important part in the operations of the company and is presently being handled through many
discrete applications.

The development will include - Study of existing App, New UI designs for BSES team to finalize
the features required in the new App (including Security & Consumer privacy features, Notification
and Communication features, Bench marked new functionality, Customer Engagement features)
with BSES team, Develop Native App for both Android and iOS,

This document details requirement for development of native Customer facing BSES Delhi Mobile
App covering Android and iOS platform.

2. Background

Presently Reliance Group Company BSES is running Mobile App in Android and iOS platform but
there are many concerns of app size being large, slow app response, and irregular updates on
IOS platform and so on. Even the UI needs to be improved upon. Therefore, it is now time to plan
for a refreshed design of the App based on following objectives.

 New refreshed and benchmarked design

 User friendly / Ease of Use

 Continuous Engagement on Mobile App

 Customized energy saving tips based on consumer study

 Light size App in Users’ Pocket (Max 5mb in size)

Mobile Apps is to develop in Native Android and iOS based Mobile App, Application including
Security &Consumer privacy features, Notification and Communication features, Bench marked new
functionality, Customer Engagement features with BSES team, Develop Native App for both Android
and iOS.

Application will support at least 10,000 concurrent users. The response time at the Mobile application
end shouldn’t be more than 3 – 4 sec.

There should be facility to report Performance snags to automatically and regret e-mail to be issued
immediately to the app user facing the problem with suggestions on how to improve device speed for
eg. Cleaning system cache & removing / closing apps which are occupying more space

Application will integrate to SAP – ISU, GIS and Outage Management System, of the respective
companies including the ones in the existing mobile apps, giving single window to users to work with.
Integrations to be taken up with standard integration tools.

3. Objectives
The objectives of my project are as follows:

 Develop Mobile Application for BSES power Distribution, Which is part of our
Reliance Group of Company
 Pre Login Process
 Online Account Management for end Consumer
 E-Bills and Payments on line with various Bank.
 Electricity Usage Analytics for last three Month to understand the behavior of
energy consumption.
 Secure Notifications to end customer
 Multi Channel Customer Service Contact Options
 Outage Reporting and Alerts
 Self Service Options
 Energy Efficient Business Partner Promotion
 Customer Engagement Analytics

4. Scope of Work
Scope of this dissertation is to design a New Mobile Application for new Look and feature
for BSES Delhi end Consumer to give single platform to interact BSES team

8. Remarks of the Supervisor


This idea and project seem to very promising. The student had covered all the relevant
literature review related to his research. The project is holding the current domain of
research and justified the level of dissertation for master studies. The outcome covered by
the project seems very interesting and include all the state of arts in today’s era of
information science. The project also includes the user study on the working prototype. This
activity completely validates the research project. This project also contains the prospect of
publication in future. After the initial meeting with Mr. Rakesh Kumar, I got an impression
that he is hard working student and have the skills to implement the experiment in
standard research paradigm. I approved the following project as the supervisor
