History of Play station

The text, “history of play station” describes the chronological history of plays station

consoles from play station 1 to play station 4. It starts by providing a brief history of how play

station consoles was first developed from the cancellation of the super disc and presents the

features, success and the technology utilized in each of the developed Play station console as

years goes by.

The author of this text shows that chronologically, first came play station (one) that

utilized the technology of the cancelled super disc. This console was first released in Japan and

was build upon and upgraded from super disc to be in a position if competing effectively with

Sega and Nintendo. It provided the users with a CD-ROM based gaming experience an aspect

that was clearly missing in all the other gaming technology prior to its development. It sold

incredibly and hence its platform brought about other newer franchise such as twisted metal,

crash bandicoot and spyro.

Plays station 2 was the next console produced by Sony in 2002. It was commercially

successful with the company selling more than 150 million pieces. Unlike play station (one),

play station 2 brought about newer and more franchises courtesy of its DVD playback aptitudes.

The PS2 games were all written in DVD format rather than CD as in its predecessor.

Sometimes later, Eye Toy was developed with the ability to sense and recognize gestures

and movements. A number of games were produce for this device comprising of the Eye toy:

play and eye toy: sega superstar. The design of these games was tailored to be used and picked

easily for both the adult and young users.

The author implies that, in 2004, both play station portable and play station 2 slim were

developed with the issue of mobility being the main driving force. Play station portable on one

hand was a handheld gaming device that ran on UMDs (mini disc) and was the sole hand-held

console at the time. It not only played videos, but, it could also play movies and music while still

offering the user the mobility touch. On the other hand, play Station 2 slim was a revised version

of PS2 with the slimness and small size being its main physical attribute.

Ply station 3 was the next device that was released in 2006 though the speculation of its

release started way back in 2005. Its hardware was so distinct hence showing a massive advance

from the Ps2 technology, as well as, its competitor. A distinctive selling point of this device was

the absolutely free online services for the play station owners. Moreover, it could play blu-ray

disc that at this time, was basically the next media format evolution set to take the globe into the

high definition era.

After the release of PS3, play station vita was next. This was a hand-held console which

ran extremely high quality games with some brilliantly polished graphics. A user could play a

game on this console and save it to continue playing some other time. Moreover, these devices

had some special features of dual touch screen. The text concludes by providing some good

news to the owner of play station by stipulating that it would be compatible with play station 4.

Admittedly, this text is very informative not only for the play station enthusiasts but also

for the learners who desire to track the development of one of Sony’s most valued product. The

fact that it provides both the history and the chronological release is not only eye opening but,

also entertaining to read. Needless to say, the author uses a very clear-cut language that is

understandable to most of the readers.
