I. Grammar. Prepositions

A preposition is a word that shows position or direction or introduces a


prepositional phrase.

Directions: Circle the preposition in each sentence.


1. We walked up the stairs to the office.
2. My mom took a walk around the block and exercised.
3. I looked under my bed to see if there was a shoe.
4. My friend jumped over the bushes and hurt himself.

II. Grammar. Conjunctions

Conjunctions are words that join two or more words, phrases or clauses.

Directions: Read each sentence below. Circle the conjunction that connects
the two phrases.

1. That car is fast, but the blue car is faster.


2. Maria went to the Pheasant Lane Mall, so she could shop for shoes.
3. June loves to play baseball, but she needs a new glove, bat and ball.
4. Luis loves to play basketball, for he is really good at it.
III. Grammar. Verb Tenses
The present tense of a verb names an action that happens now. The past
tense of a verb names an action that already happened. The future tense of
a verb names an action that will happen in the future.

IV. Vocabulary. Prefix


A prefix is a letter or group of letters that is added to the beginning of a
word. Common prefixes include; ( bi-, tri-, inter-, pre-, semi-, under-, anti-,
etc..)
Directions: Add the correct prefix to the incomplete words below using the
word bank provided.

V. Grammar. Adjectives
An adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun. Some adjectives
can tell how many and some can tell what color.

4. The red house stood out on the block.

VI. Grammar. Nouns


A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing or idea.
Directions. Circle the noun from the list of words below. Then, write a

VII. Grammar. Adverbs


An adverb is a word that describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

4. The teams shook hands sincerely after the game.

VIII. Grammar. Pronouns

A pronoun is a word that may take the place of one or more nouns.
