DIP Switch Functions

Switch Position Description

ON/OFF Reserved (default upon delivery: OFF).
3-5 6-8

ON/OFF The coupling areas are activated and deactivated using these switches
(see table "DIP Switch Positions in Direct I/O Mode") on page 6.
OFF Direct I/O mode:
The controller board emulates the SIMATIC S7-400 "S5 adapter". The IN-
TERBUS process data is made available to the application program di-
rectly via coupling areas.
DIP switches 3-5 enable you to select between four coupling areas. The
areas should be addressed separately as P, Q, IM3 or IM4 or as P/Q or
IM3/IM4 combinations. A selected coupling area is reserved for the cont-
2

roller board and is no longer available for another S5 adapter module.

ON Extended I/O mode:
The controller board emulates the SIMATIC S7-400 "FM 451 FIX.
SPEED" (FMPOS3C). The INTERBUS process data is made available to
Switch

the application program via driver blocks in bit memories or data blocks.
The controller board can be used in a multi-processor system.
OFF I/O mode:
The controller board supports data exchange between the controller and
I/O devices.
ON Test mode:
The controller board automatically reads the connected I/Os after
POWER ON, checks the connected INTERBUS components, and starts
INTERBUS data transmission if the system configuration is free from er-
1

rors.
If the system is running, the LCD shows TEST. If there is an error, it indi-
cates a bus error. The LCD also displays the connected bus configuration
and diagnostic data.
In this mode, the S7-400 CPU cannot access the INTERBUS I/Os.
Ensure that the controller is in the STOP state, otherwise the S7-400 CPU
reports an I/O access error.

Time Response of MEM_READ and MEM_WRIT Driver Blocks

The runtimes of the FC 21 MEM_READ and The following runtime formulae apply
FC 22 MEM_WRIT driver blocks depend on: to the transfer of data records
– the type of CPU used parameterized under
IBS CMD SWT G4.
– the number of words (n) to be transferred
(n = number of words to be transmit-
– the area to which, or from which, they are to ted)
be copied

Formulae for the FC 21 MEM_READ driver times, classified according to the destination area

CPU Type Bit Memory Area Data Block Area

412/413 t = 77.3 µs + n * 15.5 µs t = 78.9 µs + n * 16 µs
414 t = 49.3 µs + n * 10 µs t = 49.9 µs + n * 10.2 µs
416 t = 40.6 µs + n * 8.34 µs t = 41.1 µs + n * 8.4 µs

Setting the Controller Board IP Addresses

Figure 28 shows the steps involved in setting the IP addresses using the controller board keypad and
the corresponding LCD display.
Proceed as follows:
Hold down the ESCAPE key on the controller board and switch on the S7-400 controller. Release the
ESCAPE key after the message "SC INIT SM 0" has been shown on the LCD display for about
5 seconds. After the message "SC RDY SM 0" has been shown for about 30 seconds, specify the
desired address setting using the keyboard according to Figure 28:
