How to add graphics to your FM save

1. Where to download them from

Sortitoutsi is the foremost location for downloadable Football Manager content
on the internet. We have various graphics megapacks for faces, logos, kits and
backgrounds. Other files such as tactics, skins and other fixes can be found in our
downloads hub. Most megapacks have regular update packs released so remember
to check back from time to time to see if you need to download anything to be fully
up-to-date. Wouldn’t want to miss out on the latest faces and logos, would we?

2. How to extract them

Many of these files are so large in size that the makers need to use file compression
freeware such as Winrar or 7-zip to reduce the file size. Once you have downloaded
these files, especially the megapacks, you will need to extract/decompress these
files with one of the above software.
Important tip:
You may see a really long amount of time when you first start extracting the file.
That's because the process starts slowly but increases speed as it goes. After a few
minutes, you'll probably see that the hours initially estimated go down to a much
smaller amount of time. Speed of extraction is also affected by what you're doing on
your PC. If you've got FM running, a browser window or two open and some other
apps in the background, then the speed of extraction will slow down correspondingly.
If it’s taking too long, it may be worth restarting your system then letting it extract
overnight.

3. How to install them

Many of these files will contain installation instructions which will essentially boil
down to the below.
Unless specified otherwise in the installation instructions, all graphics should be
extracted to \My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 202x\graphics.
The folder named 'graphics' may need to be created

If you don’t want your files to be saved there, they can be saved anywhere on your
hard drive or external storage. However you will need to make the changes outlined
here for the game to show them.

1
For the sake of order and troubleshooting, it is recommended to have a different sub-
folder for all downloaded graphics (e.g. logos, faces, backgrounds) but it is not
strictly necessary

Attention if you’re playing on an Apple computer:

1. From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents
are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive
2. Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
3. By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
a. Open Finder
b. Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
c. Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key

d. This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’

4. How to change the Preferences in FM to make them work

2
Without making the changes outlined in the green square above within your FM
preferences, any graphics you have downloaded will not display. Which would be a
shame after all the effort you’ve gone to in order to find and download them, no?

You can navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-
down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.
Choose the advanced tab (the blue square within the screenshot above) and select
all from the drop-down menu on the right (the red square within the screenshot
above).
Scroll down to the interface section near the middle of the list, where you are to
make sure that:

3
 the “Use caching to decrease page loading times” box is unticked
 the “Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences” box is ticked
After clicking confirm, it may take a few seconds or minutes for all the graphics to be
loaded and you should now see all the graphics you have downloaded appear in
your save game.

Further troubleshooting
If none of the above help, it may be time to visit the respective pack’s technical
support thread. It is always recommended to have a brief look at the most recent
post to see if the issue you are suffering is a known one or is being taken care of.
If you still feel the need to ask for help, screenshots of the location you have installed
the file as well as a screenshot of your in-game preferences will provide some added
information to help other users to assist you.
