I.

Introduction
As part of our academic curriculum, we third year BS Accountancy
students must take the internship program as a partial fulfillment of the
course requirements. Finding a company that accepts interns are one of
the problems we have faced. Luckily, I found a company that is willingly
and open for applications for an internship program. I didn’t think twice
about entering because finally this Is the chance for me to showcase all of
my academic experiences and to finally apply my learnings to a real
workplace environment as an accountancy student. My experiences and
knowledge gained from my former university (Cavite State University) and
to my current university (Philippine Christian University) will soon be put to
test as I will be working as an intern for a company that provides tax
assessment, bookkeeping, financial statements, business strategic and
planning, which suits my background as an accountancy student.
Hopefully, this experience gives me the glimpse of what the corporate
world really is, will enhance my prior knowledge about accounting, and to
utilize my tools and skillset as an accountancy student.
II. Objectives
The following are the objectives of the On-The-Job Training:
a. To provide students with work experience relevant to their chosen field
of specialization.
b. To give students the opportunity to apply all the things they learned from
classroom instructions and discover new knowledge to facilitate
improvement.
c. To provide trainees the opportunity to acquire more skills and techniques
in doing various tasks and responsibilities.
d. To enable students develop a sense of professionalism, love of work
and commitment to people they serve.
e. To experience positive interpersonal skill, thereby enhancing their ability
to interact successfully in a wider community.

IV. Internship Experience

Personally, this internship experience has been a rollercoaster


ride because of the pandemic, but nevertheless, it is still a
wonderful and rewarding experience. AQubic Company gave me
more than enough tools, workloads, and assessments to sharpen
and enhance my skills as a corporate worker. Knowing that I have
no work experience, still AQubic Company gave me their full
support as they trusted me on working on their real time clients and
assisting some of the regular employees during my stay as an
intern in their company.

I started off as an assistant to their bookkeeping unit. I am


updating the books of all the clients. At first, I thought bookkeeping
should be easy because of some activities in school about
bookkeeping, but in practice, we must be precise sharp and to
avoid transposition when writing in the columnar pad because small
error like that will mean a lot to the company, and to client also.
They also let me update the reimbursements/expenses of some of
their clients. This made me realize how important sales invoice and
official receipts are. They may look like a small piece of trash to us
but to certain business owners, they are a vital part of their
business. I also got to update the summary of official receipts
issued of some of the clients. This is to make sure that the sales will
tally with the number of official receipts issued during a certain
month. After my experience in the bookkeeping unit, they
transferred me to the tax unit. They taught me how to use BIR’s

Alphalist Data Entry, Alphalist Validation, Relief Data Entry, Relief
Database Backup, and Relief Validation.

Aside from the wonderful work experience they gave me, they
also taught me how to deal with people in the workplace. Social
skills are also important in the corporate world because everyday
we deal with different people. This on-the-job training also allowed
me to enhance my social and interpersonal communication skills.
Though we only had once a week face to face interaction with the
people in the company, the people in our office still treated me like
a regular even though I’m just an intern. As I continue working with
them, they never stopped motivating me and teaching me the ways,
the ins and outs in the corporate world, how to deal with clients, and
to always do my best no matter what the circumstance is.

V. Summary and Conclusion

It is true that nothing beats experience as the perfect learning


tool. This on-the-job training gave me the hands-on experience I
needed to be fully equipped when I’m going to be stepping into the
corporate world. This training also made me realize how little I know
about accounting and what skills I must improve in myself. My On-
the-Job Training is very useful and will be very helpful to me as I
continue to take my journey as fourth year student in the field of
Accountancy

Even though I only spent a small amount of time in the on-the-


job training, it has been a meaningful one. It gave me the
confidence boost I needed and has made a mark on me to be a
remarkable employee someday. This experience also made me
close to reality and helped raise my awareness about what being a
working adult really is. We must be mentally strong to work under

pressure and avoid bringing personal problems in the workplace
because our work needs 100% focus. This internship program is
valuable in such a way that it makes us college students was given
a glimpse of what the real world looks like as a working individual. It
will test us to the point that we’ll question ourselves if we really are
ready to work and face the corporate world. The training made me
realize that it is good to know what you’re doing and to love it
wholeheartedly. We must make to most out of the time we still have
as a student to improve our weaknesses and to make sure that we
learn from our mistakes during the internship and to learn whatever
we can in school, be inspired, love the path we are taking, and
always do our best in everything we do, with a positive mindset and
optimism.

Even though we are not paid during this internship program,


nothing beats the knowledge we have gained all throughout the
duration of our internship. Take this opportunity and utilize all the
learnings we have earned and use it as tools and steppingstone
into reaching our dreams someday. This is indeed one of the
highlights of my college career.
