Purpose of the Course


The purpose of the course is to explore the concepts relevant to understanding the teaching and
learning processes. The unit provides a general overview of principles of learning, cognition,
evaluation and assessment of learning.
Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course the trainee will be able to:
1. Describe the historical development of psychology of education.
2. Demonstrate understanding of the national goals of education through class
discussions and assignments.

3. Describe the focus areas of Educational Psychology.

4. Identify and handle individual differences in a learning environment.


5. Identify various theories of learning and motivation and apply them in classroom

delivery. Discuss the relevance of Educational Psychology for teachers.

6. Demonstrate understanding of the reasons why trainers should use a variety of testing
methods.
