(e) What is meant by foliage and foliage loss?
(f) Write short notes on straight line path loss slope.
(g) List the antennas used for space diversity.
(h) List any three techniques for increasing frequency spectrum utilization.
(i) Explain the concept of delaying handoff in brief.
(j) What is the significance of multiple access schemes?

UNIT – I
2 (a) Derive C/I from a normal case in a Omni directional antenna system.
(b) Write the advantages and disadvantages of 1G and 2G cellular systems.

3 (a) Mention the two frequencies reuse schemes and explain N-cell reuse pattern in detail for four and
seven cell reuse with illustrative diagrams.
(b) Discuss the performance criteria of the basic cellular system.
UNIT – II
4 (a) Determine the signal to co-channel interference ratio at the mobile receiver located at the boundary
of its Omni directional operating cell, under the influence of interfering signals from six co-channel
interfering cells in the first tier in a cellular system designed with (i) N = 4. (ii) N = 7. Assume path
loss exponent is 4.
(b) Write short notes on adjacent channel interference.

5 (a) Explain how co-channel interference is measured in real time mobile radio transceiver.
