Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION 17

ZXUN CG Software Installation Guide

Context This topic describes the procedure to configure NIC information.

After OS installation on the SUN minicomputer is completed, only
the first network interface is enabled, such as bge0. However, a
charging server needs at least two network interfaces connect-
ing with the charging client and the charging foreground modules.
Therefore, it is necessary to enable other network interfaces man-
ually.
To configure NIC information, modify the hostname, hotes and
netmasks files.

Note:
This topic takes adding IP address of the “bge1” network interface
as an example to explain how to configure network adapter infor-
mation.

Steps 1. Enter the /etc directory and copy hostname.bge0 as host-

name.bge1, as shown in Figure 3.

FIGURE 3 COPYING HOSTNAME.BGE0 AS HOSTNAME.BGE1

Note:
The **** in the name of file hostname.**** in the /etc directory
refers to the device name, which can be set according to actual
needs.

2. Modify the content of file hostname.bge1, as shown in Figure 4.

FIGURE 4 HOSTNAME.BGE1 FILE CONTENT

3. Modify the content of file /etc/hosts using the command vi

/etc/hosts to add the IP address of the newly-added NIC, as
shown in Figure 5.

18 Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION

FIGURE 5 /ETC/HOSTS FILE CONTENT

4. Modify the IP address in the hosts file based on actual infor-

mation, such as 129.0.130.130 shown in Figure 5. Modify the cor-
responding name of the IP address, such as ZXWNCGFRONT in
Figure 5. This name is the content in hostname.****, as de-
scribed in step 2.2.
5. Modify the content of the file /etc/netmasks to add informa-
tion of network section and subnet mask of the newly-added
NIC, as shown in Figure 6.

FIGURE 6 /ETC/NETMASKS FILE CONTENT

6. Modify subnet masks in the file netmasks based on actual in-

formation, such as 129.0.0.0 and 255.0.0.0 shown inFigure 6.
7. After finishing the modification, restart minicomputer.
END OF STEPS

Result The newly-added NIC and its IP address take effect after system
restarts. Use netstat –in command to validate it, as shown in the
following figure. The server can ping through the local IP address.

ZXUN CG Software Installation Guide

Adding an IP Address
Prerequisites A Terminal window is opened on the charging server.
The NIC is installed on the charging server.
Context This topic describes the procedure to add IP address on the charg-
ing server.
Steps 1. Execute the following command to add IP address information:
#ifconfig network interface name addif IP address netmask mask up
To add an IP address on the NIC dmfe0, execute the following
command: dmfe0 addif 192.168.15.130 netmask 255.255.0.0 up

Note:
This command is only valid when the system is booting and the
IP address can not be set automatically when system reboots.

2. If IP address is required to be set automatically when system

restarts, you can add an S99ipset file (the name of the file
must begin with S99 and the rest part of it can be set freely)
to the /etc/rc2.d directory. The file contains the above-men-
tioned command.
3. Then execute the command #chmod u+x ./S99ipset to add exe-
cution authority for the file.
END OF STEPS

The NIC is installed on the charging server.
Context This topic describes the procedure to add default gateway for com-
munication between the charging server and the external network.
Steps 1. Obtain the IP address of the default gateway to be added.
2. There are two ways to add default gateway information:
To add gateway manually, execute the following command:
#route add default 10.0.0.254 1
To modify the /etc/defaultrouter file, execute the fol-
lowing command:
#touch /etc/defaultrouter
#vi /etc/defaultrouter
#route add default 10.0.0.254 1

20 Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION

Chapter 1 Charging Server Software Installation

Note:
The gateway added manually will not exist in the route table
any longer after the system is restarted and needs to be added
again; for gateway added by modifying the /etc/default-
router file, the system will automatically configure it every
time when the system starts.

END OF STEPS

Route Configuration
CDRs are transferred to the charging server through the OMP
board. Generally, IP addresses of the charging server and fore-
ground OMP board are in the same network segment. So if they
can be pinged mutually, there is no need to add other routes.
Otherwise, it is necessary to configure route information.
If the CDRs generated from the source CDR generation node are
transferred to the charging server through the USI board, it is nec-
essary to configure a route to the Billing Domain on the charging
server.
This section introduces two ways to configure route:
Adding route information manually. Refer to Adding Route In-
formation Manually for details.
Creating a permanent static route. Refer to Creating a Perma-
nent Static Route for details.

Adding Route Information Manually

Prerequisites A Terminal window is opened on the charging server.
The NIC is installed on the charging server.
Context This topic describes the procedure to add information of routes
from the charging server to CDR generation nodes and the Billing
Domain.
Steps 1. To add route information manually, execute the following com-
mand:
#route add host|net destination gateway
 Example:
To add a route to a CDR generation node execute the fol-
lowing command:
#route add –net 10.40.90.100 10.40.90.200
It means all the accesses to 10.40.90.100 must first go
through 10.40.90.200. 10.40.90.200 indicates the IP address of
the gateway or the router.
 Example:

Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION 21

ZXUN CG Software Installation Guide

To add a default route to the Billing Domain, execute the

following command:
#route add default 10.41.34.254
10.41.34.254 is the IP address of the gateway or the router,
which can be modified according to actual requirements.
2. Ping the IP address of the destination node to check if the node
can be connected.
END OF STEPS

Creating a Permanent Static Route

Prerequisites A Terminal window is opened on the charging server.
The NIC is installed on the charging server.
Context This topic describes the procedure to create a permanent static
route.
Steps 1. Open the /etc/rc2.d/S99route file.
vi /etc/rc2.d/S99route
2. Add the routing information into the /etc/rc2.d/S99route
file.
 Example
To add a route to a CDR generation node execute the fol-
lowing command:
#route add –net 10.40.90.100 10.40.90.200
It means all the accesses to 10.40.90.100 must first go
through 10.40.90.200. 10.40.90.200 indicates the IP address of
the gateway or the router.
 Example:
To add a default route to the Billing Domain, execute the
following command:
#route add default 10.41.34.254
10.41.34.254 is the IP address of the gateway or the router,
which can be modified according to actual requirements.
END OF STEPS

Result The route takes effect when the system starts.

Creating an FTP Account for BD

Prerequisites The group and user have been created in the system.
Context This topic describes the procedure to configure an FTP account to
log into the BD to get CDRs from the charging server. In commer-
cial applications, the Billing Domain gets CDRs from the charging
server initiatively. If the charging server is configured to transfer
the CDRs to BD, this topic is not applicable.
At present, the FTP account’s user name is “zte”. This topic de-
scribes how to set the FTP account.
Steps 1. Modify the /etc/ftpd/ftpaccess file adding the following con-
tents to the end of the file.
restricted-uid zte
2. Restart the process inetd to lock the FTP main directory, with
other file directories invisible to the FTP user.

Note:
Execute the following commands to restart the process inetd
# pkill inetd
# inetd -s

3. Create a file /etc/shells by use of vi or other editors, in-

putting the following contents in the file:

58 Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION

Chapter 1 Charging Server Software Installation

/bin/true
/bin/sh
/bin/bash
/bin/ksh
/bin/csh
/sbin/sh
4. Save and close the file.

Note:
This procedure aims to allow the FTP user to use FTP but
not telnet.
If the user is not familiar with the use of vi, execute the
following commands to create the file shells in /etc and
input the file contents.
 # touch /etc/shells
 # echo "/bin/true" > /etc/shells
 # echo "/bin/sh" >> /etc/shells
 # echo "/bin/bash" >> /etc/shells
 # echo "/bin/ksh" >> /etc/shells
 # echo "/bin/csh" >> /etc/shells

5. Add a zte user and set its home directory as the di-
rectory storing remote CDRs. The directory is usually
/global/bill/cdr/remote, depending on the actual situa-
tions during commissioning.
# useradd -d /global/bill/cdr/remote -g zte -s
/bin/true zte
6. Set the password for the zte user with the following command.
# passwd zte
7. After performing the above steps, log into FTP as the zte user
and test if the files can be deleted through FTP.
END OF STEPS

Postrequisite Perform the same procedure on the second minicomputer.
