Introduction
This document provides installation instructions and caveats, resolved issues, and known issues for FortiWeb
Manager 5.6, build 0190.
FortiWeb Manager allows you to use a web-based user interface to configure remote FortiWeb devices. It allows
you to simplify and speed up the FortiWeb deployment and update process by maintaining configuration
templates and policy packages that you can modify and apply as needed.

What’s new
l FortiWeb 5.6 support — FortiWeb Manager 5.6 supports FortiWeb 5.6 only. It allows you to configure all new and
enhanced functionality introduced with FortiWeb 5.6.
l Interactive policy package installation — When you install a policy package on a FortiWeb, FortiWeb Manager
now prompts you to resolve any conflicts between the configuration in the package and the configuration on the
device. You can preserve the configuration item on the device, overwrite it with the package configuration, or
create a new item without leaving the installation process.
In addition, if the installation generates error messages, the FortiWeb Manager installation process now displays
information about the error and provides options to fix it or cancel the installation process, either with or without
preserving any changes FortiWeb Manager has already made.
l Import provisioning templates and policy packages — You now create a new FortiWeb Manager
provisioning template or policy package, or update an existing one, using a FortiWeb.
When you import a policy package, FortiWeb Manager allows you to edit the mapping of interfaces found in the
source configuration to interfaces in the policy package. When you update a package, you can resolve any conflicts
as part of the import process.
l FortiGuard license status and updates — The new FortiGuard tab allows you to view the status of the
FortiGuard services on the FortiWeb appliances it manages, as well as updating the services.
l Firmware file management — The new FortiGuard tab allows you to import firmware images that you can then
restore to an individual FortiWeb or all the FortiWeb appliances in a device group. You use the new Firmware
Management tab on the Device Manager tab to display the firmware restore history for a device.
l Data Analytics file management — The new FortiGuard tab allows you to import data analytics files that you can
then upload to an individual FortiWeb or a device group.
l Per-device interface mapping — FortiWeb Manager now allows you to map interfaces in a policy package to a
specific interface on an individual FortiWeb device. When you install the package, FortiWeb Manager substitutes
the interface name you specified for that device for the interface name found in the package.
l Expanded evaluation license — The FortiWeb Manager evaluation license now allows you to configure up to 10
FortiWeb devices.

NA When you back up the FortiWeb Manager configuration, the whole database,
including all log messages, is backed up. For this reason, when you restore the
configuration, the backed-up log messages overwrite any new ones.
