ABSTRACT
The hotel network project aim is to design and implement a computer network for a
three-floor hotel with different departments on each floor. The network will have three routers
connecting each floor, and each floor will have a switch and wireless access points. Each
department will have a printer and be in different VLAN with its own subnets and IP address.
OSPF will be used as the routing protocol, and DHCP will be used to assign IP address
dynamically SSH will be configured for secure remote access, and port security will be
implemented in the IT-dept switch. The project will be implemented using cisco packet tracer
and will involve hierarchical network design, inter-VLAN routing and WLAN configuration.
The end of the goal is ensured that all devices in the network can communicate with other
seamlessly.

INTRODUCTION

Networking is referred as connecting computers electronically for the purpose of

sharing information The aim was to design a network with high security.
Resources such as a file, application, printers & software aresome common information shared
in a networking. The advantages of networking can be seen clearly in terms of security,
efficiency, manageability & a cost effective which allows to collaborate with wide range.
The Switches and Router this device that play an important role in data transfer from one
place to another using differenttechnology such as a radio waves & wire. LAN is a Local Area
network which is made up of two or more computers connected together in a short distance
usually at home, offices buildings or school.

WAN is a Wide Area network that covers wider area than LAN and usually covers
cities, countries and the whole world.
Sometimes Several major LAN can be connected together to form a WAN.
As a several devices are connected to network, it is important to ensure data collision does not
happen when this device attempt to use data channel simultaneously. A set of rules called
collision detection are used to detect and preventcollision in networks.

1.1 OBJECTIVES:

• Design and implement a hierarchical network topology that meets the hotels
requirements.

• Configure three routers to provide inter floor connectivity using serial DCE (data circuit
– terminating equipment) cablesand implement OSPF (Open Shortest path first) as the routing
protocol.

• Create VLANs for each department with their respective subnets and there IP address.

• Configure DHCP (Dynamic host configuration protocol) toassign IP address

dynamically to devices on the network.

• Implement inter VLAN routing on the router to allowcommunication between

departments

Hotel Management Network Design

Implement portal security on the IT dept switch to allowonly authorized devices to access
the network
• Create wireless networks for each floor and connect thelaptops and phones to them.

• Test and verify the network communication betweendevice in the network.

• Document the network design and implementation processfor future reference and
trouble shooting.

1.2 SUMMARY:
Designing a campus network is essential for creating a well-organized, secure, and
scalable infrastructure that meets the communication and collaboration needs of an
organization or educational institution.
It lays the foundation for efficient operations, user satisfaction, and adaptability to future
technological advancements.

Chapter 2
BRIEF OVERVIEW ON THE PROJECT
In This computer networking project. the hotel has three floors; in the first floor there
are three departments (Reception, Store and Logistics), in the second floor there are three
departments (Finance, HR and Sales/Marketing), while the third floor hosts the IT and
Admin. Therefore, the following are the part of the considerations during the design and
implementation.
• There are three routers connecting each floor (all placed in the server room in IT)
• All the routers are connected to each other using serial DCE cable
• The network design 10.10.10.0/30,10.10.10.4/30,10.10.10.8/30 between the router
• Each floor is expected to have one switch (placed in the respective floor)
• Each floor is expecting to have wi-fi networks connected to laptop and phones.
• Each department is expecting to have a printer.
• Each department is expected to be in different VLAN (virtual local area network)

ADVANTAGES AND CHALLENGES WHILE COMPLETING THE

PROJECT
2.1. ADVANTAGES:
• Working together facilitates idea generation and creativity
• Teamwork reduces stress
• Improve our chances of achieving the desired result
• It was very useful
• Learning new things

2.2. CHALLENGES:
• Inadequate skills
• Time Management (To create TO - Do List of the day)

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE REQUIRMENTS

3.1. HARDWARE REQUIREMENT:

• Computer or mobile devices: -Hostel staff will need computers are mobile devices
to access utilize the hotel management system. Thesedevices sever as the primary
interface for interacting with the systemfeatures and function.

• Server: -Large hotels may require a dedicated server to store and manage the vast
amount of data generated by the hotel management system. This server act as central
hub for store guest information, reservations, billing details, and other relevant data.
Small hotel canopt for cloud base solution where the data is stored and manage on
remote servers accessed via the internet.
DEVICES USED:

• Router
• Switches
• Access-point
• PC’s
• Laptops
• Tablets
• Mobile phones
1.ROUTER:
Router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks.
Routers perform the traffic directing functions on the Internet.

2.SWITCH:
A multilayer switch is a network device that has the ability to operate at higher layers of the
OSI reference model, unlike the Data Link Layer (DLL) traditionally used by switches.
A multilayer switch can perform the functions of a switch as well as that of a router
atincredibly fast speeds. It is a distribution switch which is a layer 3 switch.

3. ACCESS POINT
As access switch is the one that allows your devices to connect the network, it undoubtedly
supports port security, VLANs, Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet and etc. … All in all, access
switch is usually a layer 2 switch.

4.PC’s:
A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and
price makes it feasible for individual use.

• Implement a structure IP addressing scheme based on the hotel’s requirements. Use

private IP addresses for internal networks.

• Assign VLANs for different hotel’s department (e.g., Reception, administration, IT,
Logistics).

• Implement ACLs (Access Control List) to control traffic between VLANs.

• Set up a secure wireless network using WPA2/WPA3 encryption, which are

connected to phones, laptops and tablets. Implement a guest network with limited
access.

• Configure DHCP servers for automatic IP addresses assignment in each VLAN.

CONCLUSION

Here, we have come to the end of the project on the topic "HOTEL MANAGEMENT
AND NETWORK DESIGN". It was a wonderful and learning experience on this project. The
joy of working and the thrill involved while tackling the various problems and challenges.
We learnt many new things about the network design and for us while working on this project.
Ans if we had a chance to the upon this same coursework again using the team, we are sure
that everyone in the group would not change our overall approach.
We certainly would not have as many problems to deal with as all the mistakes that we have
made in this particular project have given us the necessary experience to improve on our team
skills.
Every member has realized their strengths and weaknesses and would work to exploit each
other's strengths and hide each other's weakness. This project has developed by thinking skills
and more interest on this subject.
A very special thanks to Hemanth Kumar sir for setting such target for us. We enjoyed every
bit of work, we put in to this project. We do hope that our project will be interesting and
maybe even knowledgeable
