readers to analyse the story. If children struggle with the words, the illustrations might assist
them figure out the story, increasing their understanding.

Developing Language Skills

Picture books play an significant role in introducing children to different words and phrases,
which can help in improving their vocabulary. The colourful and attractive illustrations in a
picture book can also aid in making learning new words an enjoyable experience for kids.

Enhance cognitive development

Picture books can aid in developing a child’s cognitive abilities by teaching them about
colours, shapes, and sizes. The visual elements in picture books can also help in boosting a
child’s memory skills and enhancing their ability to comprehend information.

1. 2
A picture book is a book in which the pictures play as significant a part in telling the story as
the text. A picture book's illustrations are often colourful, detailed, and imaginative, and they
help express the tone and setting of the story. Picture books are intended for children, and
their simple language and vibrant illustrations are attractive to young readers.

Illustrated books, on the other hand, include illustrations that go along with the text. The
illustrations in an illustrated book supplement the text visually and help to bring the story to
life. Illustrated books can be aimed at either children or adults, and the illustrations can range
from simple sketches to complex, explained illustrations.

1.3 It is a picture book because the story is told through pictures.

1.4 In this image, I can see that they used bright colours to make the image more visible to
the learners. A young girl adores the large, lovely tree that stands outside her house. Her
brothers, on the other hand, are keen on cutting it down. The girl is anxiously hugging the
tree in an attempt to stop this. The girl's brothers want her to let go so the man can cut it.
These men are dressed in protective gear and wield chainsaws. We can, however, conclude
that the tree is extremely important to the girl, and she will go to any length to stop anyone
from destroying it.

QUESTION 2

2.1 Being visually literate is critical in today's world because we are constantly inundated
with visual communication, such as images, videos, and graphics on social media, websites,
advertising, and news media. Visual literacy helps us to interpret and comprehend visual
messages, navigate and interact with visual media, express ourselves visually, and critically
evaluate the accuracy and impact of visual information. It also improves our capacity to share
knowledge and connect with others in an interconnected and computerized society where
visual media is dominant.

2.2
2.2.1 It refers to creating or featuring sensory gratification or having a strong sensory appeal.

2.2.2 Green is a gorgeous, warm colour that is connected with wealth and money. Green is a
representation of life or nature in most countries. It exemplifies nature's beauty. It is
reassuring, restorative, and revitalizing. The bright light fresh green in nature symbolizes new
life and growth to come. It is the colour of mother earth and the environment, and it
symbolizes universal harmony and unconditional affection.

QUESTION 3

This illustration uses warm, clear colours which enable us to see the animals clearly, and the
green trees and grass indicate that we are in a forest.

The first image shows the Funky Monkey opening a watermelon that only contains water.
According to his expression, the monkey seems surprised and angry at Foxy Joxy. Foxy Joxy
has duped the monkey by selling him a watermelon with only water in it, and the Foxy Joxy
is not remorseful, as evidenced by his smile. All of the other animals, including the giraffe,
bird, and rabbit, have angry expressions on their faces. "They ought to give foxy joxy a
lesson," the elephant says, concerned. The Funky Monkey's frame is larger to show his
enraged expression.

There are numerous action lines to simulate the speed of the Funky monkey's motion. The
elephant image is larger than the others because the elephant has a strong emotional reaction
to what happened, prompting him to say, "We have to teach Foxy Joxy a lesson." This
demonstrates that he isn't happy with what occurred.

In the final image, the owl is seated on a branch of a tree, looking down at the other animals,
and the animals are interested in what the owl says because they are all looking up to hear
what he says; this is related to the written word because the other animals need to hear what
the olive owl says, and the owl agrees with the other animal.

QUESTION 4

4.1 A folktale in the form of storytelling is a story that people tell each other out loud rather
than stories that are written down and passed down through generations to come, usually by
word of mouth.

4.2 It's a Trickster tale because the Foxy joxy duped the monkey into giving him money in
exchange for a fake watermelon.

4.3

• Folktales explain how something came to be, such as how the animals wanted to teach Foxy
Joxy a lesson for something he did, such as tricking Foxy Monkey.

• Animals play important roles in folktales, and this one includes an elephant, a fox, a rabbit,
a giraffe, and a monkey.

• The story must contain a moral lesson, and in this story, the elephant stated that they must
teach Foxy joxy a lesson, and the "Olive oil has an idea" on how to do so.
4.4 The setting of the story is the forest, as indicated by the trees and grass in the image. We
see a strange monkey sitting on a tree branch, and the rest of the animals are surrounded by
trees and grass.

4.5 The aim of this folktale is to enable us discover what the Foxy Joxy did was wrong, and
that there is absolutely nothing funny about tricking someone, as evidenced by the animals'
furious facial expressions.

4.6 I may teach them through character development, for example, so that we can bring the
characters to life and make sense of them, and they can distinguish between wrong and right.
Playing roles can help engage and motivate them to remember the story, so they understand
the moral lesson and value of the story. I can also teach them the moral of the story by
observing the characters and what they do in the story and focusing on what is recurred.
