=> SYSTEM INFORMATION:


Note:- In lab you will get servera machine as alpha & serverb as beta You have been provided two
virtual machine.

alpha.lab.example.com provided with IPv4 Address is 172.25.250.10 Network for this machine is
(172.25.250.0 255.255.255.0) Name server IP: 172.25.250.254

beta.lab.example.com provided with IPv4 Address is 172.25.250.11 Network IP: (172.25.250.0


255.255.255.0) Name server IP: 172.25.250.254 The root user password for Virtual machine
alpha.lab.example.com is redhat
All required software or package Repository is available at

Selinux is in enforcing if you want to make it disabled you can as per as your requirement. Firewall is
configured if you want to disabled you can

1) Configure Network
- IPv4 Address is 172.25.250.10
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway:172.25.250.254
- Name server: 172.25.250.254

2) Configure Repository
- Needed packges are available on http://content.example.com/rhel8.0/x86_64/dvd/AppStream/ and
http://content.example.com/rhel8.0/x86_64/dvd/BaseOS/

3) Troubleshoot Selinux
- On servera investigate and fix the issue with the Apache HTTPD daemon, which is configured to
listen on port 84/UDP, but which fails to start. Adjust the firewall settings appropriately so that port
84/UDP is open for incoming connections.

4) User Management
- Add a group called Mlcrowave having gid 2005
- Add 3 Users named as dataBase1, Database2, database3
- database3 should not have access to interactive shell
- Mlcrowave should be supplymentary of all the users you just added except for database3
- Password : qwerty56

5) Collabratively Directory
- Create a Directory named as /RHCSA/exam
- Mlcrowave shoudl be groupowner of this Directory
- The directory created inside this directory should automatically get groupownership of Mlcrowave
- The user should have read,write and execute permission on it, Group should have Read and execute
permissions, others should not have any permissions.

7) cron job
Configure a cronjob for dataBase1 to run at 2:05 PM on 1st day of any month to perform usr/bin/echo
"My-rhcsa-exam" >> /tmp/exam.txt
8) NTP Client
- The NTP server is "classroom.example.com"
- Verify the same

9) Autofs for automount


- classroom.example.com exports NFS share folder /exam-file to your system
- remoteuserX home directory is classroom.example.com:/exam-file/remoteuserX on NFS share
- remoteuserX home directory should be auto mounted locally beneath /exam-file as
/exam-file/remoteuserX when remoteuserX login into local system
- home directories must be writable by their users

10) User Creation


- Creates a user named username with following Characteristics.
- The userid must be 9669.
- User password must be "dAta@Base"

11) Set Permmisions


- copy /etc/passwd to /var/log
- The file /var/log/passwd is owned by the root and also belongs to the group root
- It should not be executable by anyone.
- The the group Mlcrowave should able to read and write /var/log/passwd
- The user username is able to read & write /var/log/passwd
- The user dataBase1 is able to read & write /var/log/passwd
- The user database3 can neither write nor read /var/log/passwd
- All other user can only have the ability to read /var/log/passwd

12) Locate Files and Directory


- Find all files & directories that is owned by group Mlcrowave.
- Copy all files & directories to /var/managerdocs folder.
- verify the same

13) Create an Archive


- Create an archive file in /mnt/backup-file.gz
- It containes backup of /var/log.
- verify the same

14) Search String


- Search Sring starting with word "comp" from /usr/share/dict/words
- Save the above output in file /tmp/comp-output
- verify the same

=> Perform this task on Server2/Serverb


1) Recover the root password
- Change the root password to "qwerty56"

2) Configure Network
- IPv4 Address is 172.25.250.11
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway:172.25.250.254
- Name server: 172.25.250.254
- The host name should be beta.lab.example.com

3) Configure Repository
- Needed packges are available on http://content.example.com/rhel8.0/x86_64/dvd/AppStream/ and
http://content.example.com/rhel8.0/x86_64/dvd/BaseOS/

4) Create the swap partion


- Create a swap partition of 512MB
- It should persist across reboot

5) Configure VDO
- Create VDO volume with name vd01.
- Physical size of VDO device must be 5 GiB
- Set the logical size 10 times (50 GiB) the size of Physical Block device (Assuming container storage)
- Mount VDO on /mnt/vdo And filesystem must be xfs

6) Tunning the Profile


- Set the recommended tuned profile

7) Create LVM
- Create one logical volume with volume group name vgdata
- Set the size of 1PE to 32M
- Also create one logical volume to 28PE with name of lvdata under volume group.
- File system must xfs and mount it under /srv/volume persistently.

8) Resixze the LV
- Increase the size of vshare to 50 PE
