THEORY:
An RC coupled amplifier is a part of a multistage amplifier wherein different stages of
amplifiers are connected using a combination of resistor and a capacitor. Generally, at least two
or more than two stages are connected in cascade combination. If the output of one amplifier is
connected (coupled) to the input of another amplifier, the stages are said to be connected in
"cascade". The benefit of cascaded amplifiers is to develop an output voltage larger than either
stage alone can develop. The overall gain or system gain of the cascaded amplifiers is the
product of each individual stage gain, or
AV = AVl x AV2 x AVn ………….(1)
FORMULA:
Voltage gain as amplification Av = 20log (Vo/Vin) in dB
Where, Vin= input voltage in mV.
V0 = output voltage in V
Av = Voltage gain
PROCEDURE:
BJT amplifier circuit is connected in the bread board.
The power supply is switched on.
Keeping the input frequency as constant at 500Hz,varying the input voltage
and corresponding output voltage is noted.
With Vin=200mV, the frequency is varied and corresponding output voltage
vout is found and noted.
An amplifier is used to increase the signal level. The output should follow
the input over the range of frequencies at which it is to be used. An
amplifier should ideally provide amplification.
The degree to which this is done usually indicated by a cure known as
frequency response curve of amplifier.
Bandwidth of the amplifier is defined as the difference between F2 and F1,
when the F2 is high frequency region and F1 is low frequency region.
Bandwidth (BW)=F2-F1(Hz)

CALCULATION:
Voltage gain as amplification Av=20log(Vo/Vin) in dB
MODEL GRAPH:
PROCEDURE:
1. Apply input by using function generator to the circuit.
2. Observe the output waveform on CRO.
3. Measure the voltage at
a. Output of first stage
b. Output of second stage.
4. From the readings calculate voltage gain of first stage, second stage and overall gain of
two stages. Disconnect second stage and then measure output voltage of first stage
calculates voltage gain.
5. Compare it with voltage gain obtained when second stage was connected.
6. Note down various values of gain for different frequencies.
7. A graph is plotted between frequency and voltage gain.
INFERENCE:
RESULT:
Thus voltage gain is calculated and the frequency responses of RC coupled amplifier are drawn .
