Memo Spindle Chuck
Memo Spindle Chuck
1. General remark
The machine is equipped with a SIEMENS safety integrated controller. The spindle is
implemented as a safety axis. Movements from the spindle will be monitoring all the time the
control is on, by the safety integrated controller.
If some unexpected movement takes place the safety integrated controller generates an
error and stop the machine. This you can see in error messages STOP A and STOP B. This
error massages have the highest priority in the safety system. To quit this fault a PO-Reset is
required by the safety system.
To prevent this error, when turning the spindle by hand, we implemented a function called
“release spindle manual rotating”. This function is described in the following chapter.

The function can be found on the HMI under friction welding => manual => spindle.

To release the function the spindle chuck needs to be clamped first, the machine needs to be
in manual mode. After release the function “release spindle manual rotating” the spindle can
be turned by hand without generating a safety error.
Important Note: After finish work the function needs to be switched off by the operator.
And the spindle chuck needs to be unclamped to start the process.
