BUSINESS CHALLENGE
There was a robotic arm named Alfred, but only robotics and software engineers could
communicate with it. The client didn’t have a user-friendly interface that sends commands
to the robot or monitors its state.

The company planned to sell Alfred to restaurants and reached out to the SumatoSoft
team to develop a platform with GUI for interaction between restaurant personnel and
multiple robots.

THE MAIN CHALLENGES


Not all restaurant workers are native English speakers. Thus, GUI must be intuitive,
informative, and simple so every restaurant worker can understand the current Alfred
state or an error just at first sight on the screen.
Another challenge of this project was the requirement that the main order processing
flow should work offline (without global Internet connectivity).

SOLUTION
Our final solution was a progressive web application (PWA) as the main UI for kitchen
staff based on our React UI application and Kitchen Coordinator server written in
Python. We came up with a distributed microservice architecture with event-based
communication.

OUR FINAL SOLUTION INCLUDED MULTIPLE BACKEND SERVICES:

BUSINESS CHALLENGE
Scalex is a custom ERP system developed for the Business Car Group, the largest Toyota and Lexus car dealer in Russia.
The old IT solutions were uncoordinated tech platforms requiring costly maintenance and support. The main project
purpose was to replace those systems automating key business processes for trade and technical centers, including gross
and retail sales of cars, spare parts and accessories, warehousing inventories and cars service maintenance with a solution
that, as a minimum, would replace existing functionality.
BUSINESS AIMS:

• To support the Toyota Service Marketing (TSM) methodology;
• To decrease costs and time spent on modifications to the system and its adaption to the changing business processes;

SOLUTION
To hasten the system development and its implementation, and to reduce the time between first release and receiving
feedback from real users, we chose Ruby On Rails and the Scrum methodology to use.
At first, we developed the most popular module — CRM. The module includes virtual desktops for each employee role
interacting with the dealer’s clients. The desktop includes a set of tasks concerning customer support. CRM module has
been successfully introduced in 20 centers around the country.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE
The client gathered information about the ingredients in the competitor products by manually visiting
websites and collecting the data. After a while, they decided to find a reliable software development
partner that could automate this process.

SOLUTION
We developed a simple parsing system deployed on one server. The parser system extracts the data on over
200 thousand products and their categories from 20+ websites, processes it, and generates reports based on the
processed data. The parsing system features a unique parser adopted to the layouts of each of the 20+ websites.
The reports are generated following the client’s patterns, and the system parses information once a month during
the so-called “parsing round,” which lasts for one week.
All the information is available in a simple and convenient admin panel that displays parsed websites, statistics
from the last parsing round, and where the client can download any reports from previous parsing rounds. The
admin panel also allows us to track the status of parsers, see errors that can interrupt the pursers, and monitor
the data quality.

We needed to develop a social mobile application for direct correspondence between YouTube bloggers and their audience
for a small donation. Direct correspondence implies an option for users to ask direct questions to registered in the app
bloggers and receive a direct response. Bloggers can attract the audience to the app by placing a link to their app profiles on
their YouTube channels.

OBJECTIVES:

• Fast MVP launching: The first version should be done as quickly as possible with minimum effort, but without losing quality.
• Bright design: Uncluttered and clean interface. The color palette should not distract users from focusing on the content.

SOLUTION
We developed a cross-platform mobile application based on React Native framework with minimalistic but not faceless UI
that is featured with a lot of micro-interaction. At the heart of the app is a question/answer game mechanic.
We decided to abandon a standard display of questions as a list and bring more engagement to the app. So we developed
an interface with cards that contain questions, allowing YouTube bloggers to interact with them by swiping cards left and
right instead of scrolling a list of questions.
Thanks to the React Native framework, the client gets a native application with full control of its style for both platforms:
there is no need to maintain iOS and Android app versions separately.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE
The client wanted to develop an app which helps businesses and their employees bring the process of selling to convenience
when using a flat rate price book. The application’s functionality aimed to provide its users with the opportunity to edit the list
of offerings and articles, manage the list of employees and their relations, etc.
Besides the overall development, SumatoSoft was asked to pay extra attention to the following features, crucial for this type of
applications:
• Convenience of the UI;
• High level of security;
• Fault tolerance.

SOLUTION
As a result of our work, the application comes up with an immediate pricing for specialty items not found in a regular flat rate
price book. It is also possible to preview what a flat rate price book will look like prior to having it printed.
Moreover, thanks to Employee/Owner login system, employees can double check invoices. This way, owners can see the profit
per job that employees can not see. As for the subscription fee payment methods, the solution accepts credit cards or PayPal.
The other technological aspect worth mentioning is the redevelopment of Profit Generator App, the part of the LPS Pricebook.
The app used to be written on Python, now it has been brought to Ruby on Rails.
