Review
Let’s have a review of the topic that we
have discussed previously through a mini
game entitled; GUESS THE WORD!
Game: Guess the Word
Direction: Arrange the jumbled letters to
reveal the word/s based on the given
description.
Are you ready class? Yes, Sir!
Let us begin.
1. T O P P U N I O LA – It is a
group of interacting individuals
of a single species located
within a particular area.
What is the hidden word? Yes, Mr.
Guillermo?
Very good! Mr. Guillermo. Sir, POPULATION
2. D L I N G O U B M I T E –It is
the amount of time required for a
population to double in size or
value at a constant rate
Who can guess the second word?
Yes, Ms. Lagrimas?
That’s correct Ms. Lagrimas. Sir it is DOUBLING TIME.
3. N O I T I T E P M O C– A
members of a certain population
compete with one another over
resources such as food, water,
space, and shelter.
Who can give the next word?
Ok, Mr. Castillo? The word Sir is COMPETITION
Good Job, Mr. Castillo.
4. R E P D A T I O N – Is a type of
symbiotic relationship wherein
the stronger animal feeds on
weaker animal.
What about the 4th word? Yes, Ms.
San Jose? PREDATION, Sir.
You’re correct!
5. M A N H U CAVITYIT
And what is the last word, yes Ms.
Dela Cruz It is HUMAN ACTIVITY
Very good!
Okay class so much for that, it seems that
all of you really understand our previous
lesson.
B. LESSON PROPER
Motivation
Class, let me just ask you. What comes to
your mind when you hear the word
“ECOSYSTEM”. Let us use the icon from
facebook, “What’s on your mind?”.
Yes Ms. Escalona?
Very good! What else? Sir, upon hearing the word ecosystem I
Yes Mr. Yousef? always remember all the living things.
Excellent! What else? Sir, the ecosystem provides our needs.
Yes John Dave?
Sir, ecosystem is all about the place where
Very good! All your answers are correct we live.
give yourselves 5 claps.
Now class, before we proceed to our
lesson, I have here a short video. I want
you to watch the video very carefully and
try to understand what the video is all
about. I will be asking some questions
later on.
Are you ready class?
Yes we are!
(The teacher will show a music video
“Karaniwang tao by Joey Ayala)
After watching, what do you think was the
video trying to tell us?
Yes Mr. Acol?
Sir, it tells us how we, the people manage
our environment along with our aim to
develop.
Very good! What else?
Yes Ms. Ibanez?
Sir, it also shows how people are trying to
overuse our resources resulting to the
damage of our environment.
Good job! Then why do you think people
overuse our resources?
Yes Mr. Teodoro?
Sir, since nowadays, our population is
growing, it also results to increasing
demands of all organisms most especially
us, people. This leads to overusing of
every resources in order to live and
survive.
Excellent! Then what has been the
message of the video presented earlier?
Yes Ms. Orinas?
Sir, the message of the video is that; we
only have one planet, we have to keep it
for the future generation will still depend
on it. It also tells us that no one is
responsible in taking care of it except us,
humans. However, we are also the main

what we’re going to explore today?
Yes Mr. Garrovillas?
Okay, Very good. Our topic for today is Sir, I think it is the Human Impacts on
about Human Impacts on the environment. environment.
Activity
Okay class, to help you understand our
topic for this morning, we will be having an
activity.
I will divide you into three (3) groups. Each
group will be given different tasks to do.
Now look under your arm chair, those who
got the yellow card will be the group 1,
those who got the red card will be the
group 2 and those who got blue card will
probably be the third group.
Representative from each group please
come here in front to get the materials
needed in the activity. I will give you 10
minutes to finish your given task and after
that, please prepare yourselves to present
your work in front.
Are we clear class?
Yes, Sir!
Activity #1 (Group 1)
Picture Analysis
Directions: Paste the pictures inside the
envelope that may be helpful in
maintaining the ecological balance on the
left side of the box and try to determine
those pictures that destroy the
environment and put it in the right side.
DO’s DON’Ts
Guide Questions:
1. What are the causes of
environmental damage?
2. How can we reverse the
environmental damage?
Activity #2 (Group 2)
CONCEPT MAPPING
Directions: Complete the conceptual map
showing the different things that the
ecosystem provides us in our daily living.
Guide Questions:
1. What are the things that the
environment provides us?
2. If human continue to destroy the
ecosystem, what will be your views
in the next 10 years?
Activity #3 (Group 3)
“THE WORST SCENARIO”
Directions: On the blank journal, attach
the pictures on each page and then write
down the worst situation people could
have if they will continue to experience…
A.) Over Population
B.) Deforestation
C.) Pollution
Guide Questions:
1. What will happen to the ecosystem
and to the people if all of these
continued?
2. How do people become affected
with these kinds of situation?
Analysis:
Time’s up!
Class, two representatives in each group
will come in front to present your work.
Are you ready?
Yes, Sir!
Okay, let us start with Group 1.
DO’s DON’Ts
What are the causes of
environmental damage?
The main causes of environmental
damage are dynamite fishing,
animal hunting, illegal logging, air
pollution, and throwing garbage
anywhere.
How can we reverse the
environmental damage?
By just simply doing proper
segregation, it will make a huge
difference and would be able to
help reverse the environmental
damage.
Very good! Let us give them a Texas clap!
Now can I have Group 2 representatives to
present their activity? Please come
forward.
Guide Questions:
What are the things that the
ecosystem provides us?
Ecosystem provides our needs in
daily living such as maintain air
quality, fresh air, source of foods, it
regulates climate, prevent erosion,
and this also serve as the shelter of
different animals.
If human continue to destroy the
ecosystem, what will be your views
in the next 10 years?
Destroying the ecosystem causes
rising of temperatures that may be
too much for living organisms on
the planet. 10 years from now if
people continue to destroy our
planet it may lead to deterioration of
biodiversity which may include
different types of animals and plant
species. When habitats are
destroyed, some species become
extinct, hurting the food chain.
Destruction of the ecosystem
contributes to global warming that
causes the rising of the sea level as
a result of melting glaciers. Clearing
of forests exposes the land to soil
erosion that renders arable land
unfit for production. Without
nutrients and water in the soil,
plants die. This situation decreases
human’s quality of life, putting the

clap.
Lastly, let us hear from group 3.
Guide Questions:
1. What will happen to the ecosystem
and to the people if population
continues?
Overpopulation is caused by
number of factors. Reduced
mortality rate, better medical
facilities, depletion of precious
resources are few of the causes
which results in overpopulation. It is
possible for a sparsely populated
area to become densely
populated if it is not able to sustain
life.
2. How do people become affected
with these kinds of situation?
All organisms usually depend their
survival in the ecosystem, both on
the abiotic and biotic factors. These
situations would really affect us
since all of our needs are coming
from the environment. I
Very good! Let’s give them Mommy
Dionisia Clap.
Abstraction
Based on the activity conducted, what are
those human activities that destroy our
environment? Yes Izekiel. Sir, some human activities are improper
waste disposal, illegal loggings and
pollutions.
That’s right! Destroying our environment
would also mean killing ourselves. Right Yes sir!
class?
Sir, since the environment is the one that
Why do you say so? Yes Elanie. provides our needs, destroying it would
only mean we’re throwing everything that
we need in our daily survival.
Correct! What do the
ecosystem/environment provides us? Yes Sir, it provides our daily needs such as
Shane. fresh air, foods, prevent erosion, regulate
climate and also this is serve as the
shelter of different animals in the forest.
Excellent! How do people destroy the Sir, we destroy our environment in
environment? Yes Anthony. different ways. People are cutting trees
because we really wanted to have a better
place to live in, a good infrastructures and
economy. However, we people tend to
overuse our ecosystem resulting to its
devastation.
Bravo! How can one reverse the
environmental damage? Sir, to reverse the environmental damage
Yes, Mr. Santiago. all we need to do is to be responsible in
taking care of the environment.
Excellent! Any other idea? Sir, the simplest form of people’s act of
Yes Darryl. being irresponsible can really bring greater
effect in the environment. The simple way
of segregating waste is probably the
greatest problem our world is facing
nowadays. These simple actions have
destroyed our planet at this moment.
Very Good! But do you think we can do Yes sir!
something to reverse our actions?
That’s right, because if not, we may just
continue to threaten our mother Earth.
Application
Okay class; let’s have another group
activity just to test if you can really do
something for our environment. The
groupings for this activity will be the same
group that I have formed earlier.
Just imagine that you are part of a youth
organization. All you have to do is to make
an advocacy which will show the ways on
how to reverse environmental damage by
the citizens residing at;
a. Riverside/Seaside
b. Forest/Mountains
c. Cities/Urban Places
Meaning to say, you will assume
yourselves as the citizens of these area.
Make some ways on how you can save
your environment.
I will give you 10 minutes to finish the
given task and 3 minutes to present your
work in front of the class. You will be
assessed using these criteria
ACCURACY OF INFORMATION
ORGANIZATION OF INFORMATION
GRAMMAR
Yes Sir!
Do I make myself clear?
RUBRIC FOR ASSESSMENT
(After 10 minutes)
Leaders of each group please come in
front and start presenting your work.
(Students’ answer may vary)
Let’s start with the first group.
Good job Let’s give them pabibo clap!
Moving on to the group 2. Please present (Students’ answer may vary)
your work.
Nice work! Let’s give them an ANGEL’S
CLAP!
And now, let us hear it from the third (Students’ answer may vary)
group.
Class, job well done. Give yourselves a
round of applause.
It seems that you really understand our
lesson.
IV. Evaluation:
Class please get ¼ sheet of paper, right
your name, year and section and date
today.
Directions: Write the word “DO’s” if it is the
right things to do to help our ecosystem to
maintain its balance and “DON’Ts if not.
1. _________ Use fertilizers in
planting trees.
2. _________ Cutting trees in
forest to build a house.
3. _________ Using dynamite in
fishing.
4. _________ segregating waste
properly.
5. _________ Purchase a lot of
papers and use them as scratch.
VI. Assignment:
In an oslo paper, make a poster campaign
entitled “Ecosystem is not a place to visit.
It is home” that shows the importance of
taking care of the atmosphere.
Let’s call it a day, class.
