AKNOWLEDGEMENT

"Our efforts to initiate and complete this report would be

incomplete without paying a sincere tribute to all those
who have played an indispensable role in the accomplishment
of our documentation by providing their guidance and
supervision wherever it was required and at all times.

We owe our sincere gratitude towards our respected faculty

and guides, Ar. Ranbir Kaur. Without their invaluable
guidance, generous help, and knowledge shared, the
commencement of our documentation would not have been
possible.

It is the support and firm faith they have bestowed upon us

that has provided us with the courage, confidence,
strength, and encouragement to face the path of highs and
lows of this journey and help us emerge as a better,
informed, and composed group with more knowledge on the
sensitive topic of conservation, which is fast depleting
from our modern-day society.

Last but not least, we would like to pay homage to our

parents, classmates, and friends for their constant
support, motivation, and at times providing much-needed
criticism, which has been a source of inspiration and very
essential for us at every step of our project."

This revision aims to improve clarity and readability by

breaking down lengthy sentences and ensuring correct
punctuation.

BIDADA village that is about 50kms
away from Bhuj city. This village
in present works same as it was
working before earthquake. Does
traditional architecture has answers
for issues of slum dwellers that
live in cities? Is there anything
to learn from their traditional
housing to help solve these issues.
For that we have studied street
organization as well as few house
types of bidada village in terms of
climatic response and functional
organization

perpendicular to it in east-west direction. This village
has around 500 to 550 houses and different cast of

LAND-ZONING
ANALYSIS
Village is situated near river
and a highway is going
perpendicular to It in east
west direction. This village
has around 500 to 550 houses
and different cast of people.
The Haria chowk is the formal
entry point as well as main and
largest open space in village.
A number of streets radiate
from here in different
direction.
STREET ANALYSIS
STREET PATTERN

Most of the houses of the village are

row houses having streets on both
sides. Row housing pattern reduces the
exposure of external wall surfaces to
sun as the houses share a common wall.

Village street are constantly turning

in curves in a particular direction
through small chowks of Y shape like a
flow of water.
These streets behave like channels of
winds throughout the village.
These streets are predominantly
oriented along the southwest direction.
Breeze can be felt on any street
because of this street pattern.
STREET ANALYSIS

OPEN SPACES
The public open spaces
are gradually enlarged
as social interaction
is increased between
the houses to the
neighborhood to the
community and finally
as a whole village.

Street space continues

to decrease in size
and scale as we go
further inside the
fabric.
