GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ASSESSOR

 A procedure which described how work is to be carried out in a safe and standard
process?

2. Name and explain the meanings of the following acronyms used in occupational
health and safety practice. (5)
 SWP – Safe Work Procedure or Safe Work Practice.
 JSA – Job Safety Analysis.
 SWMS – Safe Work Method Statement.
 SOP – Standard Operating Procedures or Safe Operating Procedures.

3. Give the definition of a Safe Work Procedure. (2)


 A Safe Work Procedure is the series of specific steps that guide a worker through a
task from start to finish in a chronological order and how to complete a job safely and
efficiently.

2. Explain why Safe Work Procedures are important. (2)


 They are design to reduce the risk by minimizing potential exposure.
 Also help the workers to understand the potential hazards in the workplace.

3. Why is it important for a company to set Health and Safety targets? (4)
 It gives evidence of management commitment.
 To motivate workers to provide them with something concrete.
 In order to review and measure the company`s safety performance

4. Define the term risk assessment. (1)
 Risk assessment is a careful examination of what in your workplace could harm
workers and analyze it the risk and determine ways to eliminate the hazard or control it.

5. Define the term communication. (1)


 The two-way process of reaching mutual understanding, in which participants not only
exchange (encode-decode) information, news, ideas and feelings but also create and
share meaning.

6. Outline the importance of reviewing and evaluating policies/procedures in
