Here are some good body posture and proper finger placement guidelines to help you avoid
problems:
1. Place your keyboard at elbow level, with your upper arms relaxed at your sides.
2. Center your keyboard in front of you. If your keyboard has a numeric keypad, you can
use the spacebar as the centering point.
3. When you're not typing, relax your arms and hands.
4. While typing, use a light touch and keep your wrists straight.
5. Take short breaks every 15 to 20 minutes.

PRACTICAL
Typing Practice
Practice typing great quotes from great books and stimulate your mind while
exercising your fingers! Learn to type faster as you apply the technique
taught in our free touch typing lessons.
DIFFICULTY: 3.0 CASE TO USE: lower case only.
Oneofthephrasesthatkeptrunningthroughtheconversation was
"pushing the outside of the envelope." The "envelope" was a flight-
test term referring to the limits of a particular aircraft's
performance, how tight a turn it could make at such-and-such a
speed, and so on. "Pushing the outside," probing the outer limits, of
the envelope seemed to be the great challenge and satisfaction of
flight test.
-An excerpt from ‘The Right Stuff’ by Tom Wolfe.
STRATEGIES AND ACTIVITIES:
Step 1: Revise previous knowledge (The Keyboard as the primary input device)
with the pupils.
Step 2: Introduce new topic with a starter (a short video showing typing activities by
computer literates).
Step 3: Ask the pupils to mention the types of keyboards after my teaching session as a
follow-up..
Step 4: Guide the pupils to types the materials given to them accurately within 40 minutes
or less, minimizing errors; following the legal finger-placement technique.
Step 5: The teacher would take some time to explain the different parts of a keyboard,
the types of buttons on the keyboard and their functions, the evolution of the keyboard
and some similarities between a keyboard and a typewriter etc.
