SCENARIO
Read through the scenario below and follow the instruction for the activities provided.
You are working for a large organisation in Sydney. December is fast approaching and your
company has decided to hold its Christmas function at the Hilton Hotel and would like to invite all
its staff and clients. Your manager has asked you to prepare a document (flyer) that will be sent
out to all of the staff and stakeholders of the organisation informing them of Christmas closure and
where the party is going to be. You must include the following:

a. Before you use the computer, you need to ensure that your work area is ergonomically
appropriate. Your assessor will check your area and sign an observation checklist.
b. Once you have finalised your presentation, you must save your presentation for Ruth (as
directed by your assessor), and print or email a PDF copy of your presentation to your assessor.

You are working for Australian Hardware company as a sales representative. Refer to the virtual

Australian Hardware company sells a range of products ranging from garden, outdoors, homewares,
hardware, etc. Australian Hardware company would like to promote its products at its monthly
meetings to some clients who are interested in purchasing the products in wholesale.
You have been asked by your manager, Ruth Smith, to prepare an Electronic Presentation about
your organisation which will be presented to new clients about the organisation and the services
the organisation provides at its monthly sales meeting. Remember this presentation is a sales
pitch and needs to be brief, visual, and effective. Ruth asked you to insert extra notes on
some of the slides so that she can refer to them when presenting the content to the clients.
Ruth has asked you to follow the company’s style guide listed below to prepare the presentation.
o Must use current company logo on the first slide and last slide of the presentation
o Ruth’s name must be on the first slide as the presenter and again on the last slide
o 2nd slide must list the content of the presentation to explain to the audience what will be
covered
o Small company logo must be used on the bottom of all slides (in the footer area) except for the
first and last slides
o Headings are to be in Bold and compliment the company logo colours
o Maximum of 12 slides for this presentation but a minimum of 8 slides
o At least one slide must display stats of the organisation (e.g. about products or other services)
which can be displayed in either a graph or a table on the slide
o There needs to be images on some of the slides (e.g. photographs or stock standard images
from the internet or the electronic application program)
o Some slides must run automatically (organised by timing) and some are to be clicked by mouse
to allow Ruth extra time to provide explanations about what the slide covers
o Some images or text should fly in or fade in to make the presentation more interesting
Ruth also requested to make the slide fun using friendly and happy colours to reflect the
organisation
Activity: Using Microsoft PowerPoint to Design a Document (Document 2)
After you have read the case study, you will need to meet with your manager to discuss and
determine the content of the electronic presentation prior to developing the presentation.
3.1. Prior to meeting with your manager, you need to document brief notes of what you think you
will include in the content of your presentation. Meet with your assessor and get the feedback
on your notes. Document your discussion and assessor’s feedback below. (Guide: 100 – 120
words)
3.2. After your meeting, you must now fill in the table below to identify the elements of the

3.3. Design and produce presentation – (20 – 30 minutes)
a) Using proper workplace ergonomics, you are now required to develop a draft of your
presentation within the time constraints and due date given to you by your assessor.
b) Once you have completed the draft presentation, proof read your presentation for typos,
and grammatical errors and ensure that you have followed the company’s style guide,
insert the following file name in the footer of the presentation and save the draft:
