Instructions
Directions for instructor

This activity is designed to help geometry students with using the properties of parallelogram. This activity also
gets students up and about. Place the 12 cards on the wall around your room. Students pick any card to begin with.
They should use the diagram at the top of the page to write 2 equations using the properties of parallelograms. After
solving each equation, students look around the room for a graph that matches theirs. Then they use the diagram on
that card. They should continue until they return to the card they started with.

Included are 2 versions of this activity.

 One with 12 cards for use as a walk-around activity

 A shorter version with only 6 cards.

To help with grading, I have included 2 student answer sheets for each version: One that includes room to show their
work, and another with just boxes to show the order the cards were worked.

Help prevent guessing, since students will try to work just one question and find the answer card, several cards with the
same x-value but different y-values (and vise-versa) so student must work both to make sure they have the correct
answer. While no answer is repeated some answer are similar.

Hints and suggestions:

Each version has an absent student page. Great for when students miss the activity. Also work great for
students that are unable to move around the room weather from health issue like a broken leg to mental issue like
anxiety.

I give my aides and para a copy of the absent student page so they have all the problems. They can easily help
student find the answer cards.

The shorter version is great for bell work or just a short review.

Table Top Activity

You can turn this into a table top activity by printing the absent student page and cutting up the pieces. Or print
the larger cards 2 or 4 to a page instead of just 1.

Possible Uses

 Mid-Lesson or End of Lesson Check for understanding

 Math Station for students that have finished work early
 Test Review
 Homework Alternative
 Bell work

Have Fun. Thanks for your purchase.
