NCERT QUESTIONS OF DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION ADVANCED

1. What is a digital image? How can you create one?

- A digital image is a visual representation of a scene or object stored in a digital format,
consisting of pixels arranged in a grid. You can create a digital image using tools like a digital
camera, scanner, or by designing graphics in software like LibreOffice Draw or other graphic
design programs.
2. Write steps to insert an image from the gallery using the Drag and Drop method.
- Open the folder or gallery where your image is stored.
- Select the image you want to insert.
- Click and hold the image with your mouse.
- Drag the image into the LibreOffice Writer document where you want to place it.
- Release the mouse button to drop the image into the document.
3. How is resizing of an image different from cropping it?
- Resizing an image in LibreOffice Writer changes the overall dimensions of the image, either
enlarging or reducing its size while maintaining all content. Cropping removes unwanted parts of
the image, allowing you to keep only the selected portion visible in the document.
4. What are the tools available in the drawing toolbar? Describe any five tools.
- In LibreOffice Writer, the drawing toolbar includes:
1. Select Tool: Used to select and move drawing objects within the document.
2. Line Tool: Draws straight lines of varying lengths and styles.
3. Rectangle Tool: Creates rectangular and square shapes.
4. Ellipse Tool: Draws circular and elliptical shapes.
5. Text Tool: Inserts text boxes where you can type and format text within the document.
5. How is linking of an image different from embedding? Give a situation in which you
would preferto link an image.
- In LibreOffice Writer, linking an image means that the image remains an external file and is not
stored within the document, while embedding inserts a copy of the image directly into the
document. You would prefer to link an image when dealing with large image files or when the
image is updated frequently, ensuring the document always reflects the latest version without
increasing the document’s file size.
6. Write steps to change properties for drawing objects.
- In LibreOffice Writer:
- Select the drawing object you want to modify.
- Right-click the object and choose "Properties" from the context menu, or go to "Format" >
"Object" > "Properties."
- In the "Properties" dialog, adjust the desired properties, such as line color, fill color, or size.
- Click "OK" to apply the changes.
7. What are the benefits and drawbacks of grouping drawing objects?
- In LibreOffice Writer:
- Benefits: Grouping allows you to move, resize, or apply formatting to multiple objects
simultaneously, treating them as a single unit.
- Drawbacks: Once grouped, it becomes harder to edit individual objects within the group
without first ungrouping them.
8. Describe any two tools from the Drawing Object Properties toolbar.
- In LibreOffice Writer:
- Line Tool: Allows you to modify the style, color, and width of the lines or borders of the
selected drawing object.
- Area Tool: Lets you change the fill color, gradient, or pattern within a selected drawing object.
9. Write steps to insert an image in a basic drawing shape.
- In LibreOffice Writer:
- Draw the desired shape using the drawing toolbar.
- Right-click on the shape and select "Area."
- In the "Area" dialog, go to the "Bitmaps" tab.
- Click "Add/Import" to select an image from your files.
- Choose the image and click "OK" to insert it within the shape.
10. Write factors controlling positioning of an image in a document.
- In LibreOffice Writer:
- Text Wrapping: Set the text wrapping style through "Format" > "Wrap" to determine how text
flows around the image.
- Alignment: Control the image's alignment using "Format" > "Align" (e.g., align left, center,
right).
- Anchoring: Choose how the image is anchored to the text or page (e.g., "To Paragraph," "To
Page") via the right-click menu or "Format" options.
- Margins: Adjust the space around the image using the "Position and Size" dialog.
- Layering: Manage the order of the image relative to other content using "Arrange" options
like "Bring to Front" or "Send to Back."
