OBJECTIVES The objective of this module is to:
Understand the concepts and the operating systems and its interfaces
Appreciate the role of IT as problem-solving tool.
Understand the usage of business productivity software for business application
Be able to use the common word processing packages, electronic sheet and the
use of presentation tools

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS Students will be familiar with fundamentals of business operating tools such as basic
operating system and user interfaces, word processing, spreadsheet application presentation
tools. This knowledge and skills can be applied to other subjects’ matters while doing
assignment and presentation.
TEACHING-LEARNING Teaching-Learning Methods
STRATEGY The primary teaching and learning methods include lectures and lab sessions to ensure the
theoretical and practical objectives of the syllabus are obtained. The lab work will
concentrate on applying the student-centered learning techniques.
Assessment Strategy.
The main assessment is the practical and final examination which is given to assess the
proficiency level of computer application and the familiarity with the office applications such
as word processing tools, spreadsheet tools and presentation tools.

SYNOPSIS The students learns to create, format and proof read document files. Label creation, tables,
borders and features like Mail merge are discussed. Data types, formats, functions, formulas,
macros, printing and concepts like linking worksheets are discussed. The student learns to
create presentation slides. The student learns to simple graphic to enhance handout and
brochures
