Design of a Ferris Wheel for a Small Amusement Park
INTRODUCTION
A Ferris wheel is a captivating amusement ride commonly found in amusement
parks and large malls, designed to attract visitors and provide a source of
entertainment. With its iconic large wheel structure and cabins suspended from it, the
Ferris wheel offers a unique and enjoyable experience for riders of all ages. It serves as
a major attraction, drawing in crowds and creating a vibrant atmosphere in malls and
amusement parks.
Apart from its role in attracting visitors, the Ferris wheel serves as a delightful
activity for families with children, offering a break from shopping or exploring the park. It
provides an opportunity to relax and have fun while remaining within the mall or park
environment. Whether it's enjoying panoramic views from the top or simply savoring the
thrill of the gentle rotations, the Ferris wheel creates lasting memories and fosters a
sense of togetherness among families.
Moreover, the design of the Ferris wheel is a testament to the importance of
safety and proper engineering. Through the utilization of components like flywheels,
brakes, clutches, bearings, and sprockets, engineers strive to develop a well-designed
and secure ride that can handle the weight and demands of its passengers. The
proponent will create 3 varying designs utilizing lessons from Machine Design II.
Furthermore, choosing of the best design is done by Pareto analysis, considering the
costs and the benefits machine. Fuerthermore, the project aims to create an
economical Ferris wheel that ensures the safety and sustainability of its load, enhancing
the overall enjoyment for riders while maintaining a cost-effective approach.
