editing application.

b. Differentiate between the following tools of GIMP. [An]


a. The Blur and Sharpen tool

Ans.  The Blur tool is used to soften any element of an image
that stands out too much while the sharpen tool is used
to make an image look sharper and more polished.
 The Burn tool is used to make the colours of an image
appear darker, while the Dodge tool makes them
appear lighter.

c. Give one similarity and one difference between the Pencil and [An]
Paintbrush tool.
Ans.  The Pencil and Paintbrush tools are both used to draw
free-hand lines.
 A stroke made using a Pencil tool has hard edges, while
the Paintbrush tool has soft fuzzy edges.

d. How will you do the following in GIMP? [U]


i. Draw straight lines with the Pencil tool.
Ans. Click the starting point and then click the ending
point by holding down the Shift key.

make the image sharper and clearer. Try to convert a black and
white photograph into a coloured image using the various
Selection and Paint tools.
iii. Export the image in a format suitable for use in web page and
presentations.
