A love no season can erase
Preface
In the Shades of Dreams: A Poetry Collection
Dreams are where the heart finds refuge, where whispers of the soul merge
with echoes of unspoken desires. In In the Shades of Dreams, I invite you to
wander through a world where imagination intertwines with emotion—a
place where the boundaries between reality and reverie blur into poetry.
This collection is a celebration of love’s timeless nature, the ache of longing,
and the beauty hidden in life’s fleeting moments. From the serenity of
winter’s embrace to the quiet intensity of a shared glance, each poem reflects
the shades of dreams we carry in our hearts.
The verses here are an intimate offering—a mosaic of hope, vulnerability,
and the search for meaning. They capture the rhythm of emotions that bind
us all, resonating with those who have ever sought solace in the intangible or
found themselves in the shadows of their own dreams.
May these words accompany you in your quiet moments, inspiring you to
pause, reflect, and find the beauty within your own shades of dreams.
With heartfelt sincerity,
Aaditya Singh

During a Walk in Winter
I was walking and walking,
Through the stillness of winter.
And I thought: what if…
There were no words left for us to share?
No way for us to talk,
No way to walk together on a winter's night.
With whom would I share my feelings?
The thought is so hard to bear,
So hard to feel.
But thank God—thank God—
I have someone.
Someone with whom I can share my heart,
Without wondering what they think of me,
Without fearing they’ll tire of my endless words.
So, I can say I’m—
I’m lucky to have you,
You who always bears me,
You who stays and listens.
And as we walk through life together,
Even in winter’s cold embrace,
I know your warmth will light my way—
A love no season can erase.

The Girl I Adore
There’s a girl I adore so deeply,
Perhaps she knows, or maybe not.
But I long for her to understand,
To truly feel the depth of my heart.
I wish to speak with her endlessly,
Conversations flowing, never dull.
No interruptions to break the rhyme,
Just her and me, in our shared time.
What if, one day, she came to me,
And said, “I like you as you like me”?
I don’t know what I’d even say—
What would be my reaction that day?
Would I fly like a bird, free in the sky,
Or swim like a fish freed from a net nearby?
What would I do? No, what we would do,
For this feeling, I know, isn’t mine alone—it’s true.
So yes, there’s a girl whom I adore,
And each day, I cherish her even more.

My Delusional world
So yes, I own a world,
A realm where no rules dare to persist.
Live by your heart’s desire,
Where the one I cherish, loves me with fire.
Where you hold the key to your fate,
If there’s a paradise, this is its gate.
But wait, I see a dream unfold before my eyes,
A world where my hopes rise and touch the skies.
That was my delusional realm,
Where expectations grew like fields of grain,
For which I yearned, seeking some fame.
But it was just an expectation,
A fragile realm, a fleeting name—
Does it ever bring us peace, or make us tame?

Fading Sparks and Lost Nights
She’s so perfect, I let her go,
I turned away, though I still know.
Like the deep night, she feels so wide,
And I’m just a spark, fading inside.
The night is quiet, full of doubt,
I’m not sure what it’s all about.
But still, I know, her voice gives light,
Guiding me through the darkest night.
But I don’t know, don’t know where she’s gone,
Did she disappear after all this time, so long?
Did she used to love me too,
Or was there someone else before me, like you?

The Gaze of Stars
Keep stars safe in your eyes,
They look more beautiful and wise,
Like a gentle shower, with a glimpse of fire,
A haven of dreams where hopes aspire.
But for stars, your eyes need space,
Like your beauty, full of grace.
Is your gaze only filled with shine?
I wonder if your eyes hold something else,
Like the depth of mid-eighties wine.
Do the stars whisper secrets to you,
And wonder if they owe their glow to you?
How do your eyes make them stay,
As if they owe their light to your gaze each day?
Is it your eyes that hold this power,
Or does your whole body take this special shower?
-Aaditya
The Rhythm of His Gaze
Do you, do you know him,
who stares at you with those eyes,
that feel like someone drowning in your love,
and wishes to speak to you,
speak with you beneath the open sky,
so that, for him, it becomes easy to fly.
When you utter just a single word,
the smile, the grace,
feels like an art that has found its perfect place,
but do you notice him, how does he appear?
His eyes carry something, something so clear—
they feel like wings, as if ready to soar.
His gaze is like the strings of a guitar,
needing the harmony only you can bring,
a perfect combination, like a sitar.
The rhythm he longs to play,
can only come alive with you,
he needs no one else in his crew.
And when you both stand, side by side,
it’s clear—your hearts were always meant to collide.

The Magic of Her Sip
Once, the wind said to me while roaming,
I saw her sitting and softly humming.
She held her tea and took a sip,
Her lips so pink, like a sweet chocolate dip.
Her lips, so soft, made the night glow,
A magic that keeps hearts awake, you know.
She was enjoying a book with her tea,
And dreaming of a place by the sea.
But wait, her tea has lost its heat,
Now it rests in her hands, so sweet.
The warmth of her breath, so soft and true,
Is hotter than the tea she once knew.
You gave me a view of her so clear,
A moment to treasure, to keep near.
I’ll sew it into memories bright,
A sweater of dreams to warm the night.

Whispers in the Rain
The longing of rain,
in droplets that fall,
she whispers her pain,
but what is her call?
A fire in her chest,
burning to restart,
is it loneliness,
or a fractured heart?
With rain as her guide,
she dreams of a start,
to calm the storm's tide,
and mend it—her heart.
Is this pain because of her loneliness,
or is it born of something else?
How will she release the pain,
which she holds as rain?
How will she make a new start,
to soothe the ache within her heart?
Perhaps through the rain, she’ll find her way,
and in each droplet, let go of dismay.
For storms may pass, and skies turn clear,
holding her hope beyond her fear.

The Taste of Winter: Samosas and Chai
Craving samosas with chutney and chai,
On a clear winter’s day, beneath the open sky.
Beside the chair, a bonfire’s glow,
Fulfilling a small desire, letting warmth flow.
It now just needs a partner to share,
In the same blanket, for me, it’s rare.
A small discussion by the fire’s light,
Creating memories that feel just right.
After our talk, a peaceful nap,
Between me and you, no space, no gap.
Are we just looking at the sky,
Or is the sky looking at us, passing by?
Are they smiling at us, as we lie?
The world slows down, the fire's glow bright,
In this moment, all feels so right.
Two hearts in sync, beneath the starry night,
A simple joy, a pure delight.
Together, we are home, in the warmth of the light.

My Fictional world
Maybe I’m lost,
But not in the streets of any city.
I’ve wandered into my own small, fictional world,
Where no one bends or breaks for pity.
Here, no one is a “so-called” name,
But lyricists or artists, free of shame.
We lived with respect in every heart,
No need for pretense, no fractured parts.
